Train Legos and view of store
    Arlene M.

Pittsburgh has finally got their own Lego store. During my first visit here I learned that this is not a holiday popup store. They have a good selection of different types of Legos you can build and are grouped by age appropriation. They have a rewards program here for frequent buyers called Lego VIP and in the back of the store they have an area called "pick and build". I inquired about this section and was told that you get a container and fill it with as many different color Legos you want and only pay what you are able to close the lid on. There is also small building area for children. Many of the Lego creations are amazing to look at however, they usually carry a hefty price tag with them. Some of the most interesting creations i saw was Harry Potter's Hogwarth's castle, the "pop up" book complete, a train set, the Cinderella Castle from Walt Disney world and a diner. There are also themed merchandise such as Star Wars or Ninja creations. They also have famous city icons here but to my disappointment there were none that were Pittsburgh related. I asked one of the clerks about the lack of the city and he agreed with me that there should be some but this is a corporate decision. Working with Legos is similar to working a jigsaw puzzle only 3-D. They are definitely time consuming and will keep kids busy. Expect to pay however premium prices if you want one of these marvelous kits. There are some items which are reasonably priced. The Lego store is a charming store in Ross Park Mall and certainly worth a visit. Inventory rotates yearly so what you may have seen at some other location may not longer be available. Located in the lower level of Ross Park mall just off to the right of the Starbuck's kiosk, the mall has its own parking lot.

I felt impressed by the Legos in the shape of cats, flowers, boats, vehicles, airplanes, Star Wars characters, and other themes.

Everyone was really friendly and when I initially went to get it framed, the lady working was very helpful, gave plenty of suggestions and was overall patient and respectful of my final choices. I will defiantly be returning for future custom framing!

I experienced some of the worst customer service in recent memory at this Michaels location, having…read moredriven quite far to ask about their custom framing and get a quote for a very large, unusually shaped poster. My interaction with the sales associate who "helped" me at the framing station started off with me being told that the computer was "acting up" and that therefore I may be out of luck. After the machine somehow sputtered alive, I was then told that there was simply no way I could be given a quote without actually bringing the piece in (I had brought in the measurements I needed, but not what I wanted framed), because "that's how the computer does it." My explanation that I lived far away and that it was not convenient for me to come back had no effect on the associate's attitude. When I then asked whether I could at least get a ballpark estimate (within $20-25), I was told "no" (again, "because of the computer"), and finally, when I explained that I was shopping around at different framers and just needed to get a rough sense of their pricing, the associate just straight-up told me that Michaels "can't guarantee the best pricing"! At this point, I said my good-byes as politely as I could and left the store. It's appalling to me that a customer seeking to purchase such a pricey service -- probably a few hundred dollars at the least -- would be treated this way. I legitimately felt that this Michaels was not only disinterested in my business, but positively hostile to it. I will not be coming back.
