After taking a couple minutes to decide. I chose the shrimp poboy. It was delivered at 12:05, with the tails on. Before I could eat, I had to pull them off. It was fantastic. So I guess I'll be okay. By 12:20 I was cashing out lunch for one $20. They issued a 20% discount for my military id.

When in Shreveport on a Monday, your dining options are...limited (unless you fancy a casino…read moredinner, which we did not). So, we ended up here--the only place open that wasn't serving up blackjack with a side of fries. First up: water. Now, if you've never had Louisiana tap water, let me tell you--it tastes like someone steeped a bag of potting soil in it for 12 hours. I was about to blame this restaurant until a little Google dive informed me that most of Louisiana water just tastes like this due to geosmin and MIB (algae bloom byproducts, apparently). Fun fact that nobody asked for, but here we are. Anyway, we pivoted HARD to cocktails. I ordered a Belvedere martini, which was well-made by Dustin but oddly expensive considering this wasn't exactly a swanky downtown hotspot. For dinner: Hubbs went for shrimp fettuccine, and while it was fine, it didn't exactly make us want to write home about it. I, on the other hand, ordered Natchitoches meat pies, thinking they'd be the real deal imported from the famous place there. Oh, how naive I was. Instead, they were sad little impostors, baked instead of fried, and just...meh. Final bill: almost $100 for four drinks and two average entrées. If we're dropping that kinda cash, I'd prefer a meal that didn't require an emergency cocktail switch just to recover from the water.

A legitimate, yet intimate, small-to-medium sized live music and event venue such as this gorgeously renovated old tire garage which just had its formal opening for Music Prize Live on June 20th, 2019! I myself, was just back from the beautiful beaches of Alabama, sunburned, slightly tired, and I still had an absolute hoot in this here place. My friends and I jammed to visiting Nashville bands, Airpark, and *repeat repeat. It was an enjoyable time to be certain. I am looking very much forward to the future events, and the endless possibilities of this place in the near and far future. I am especially looking forward to the 2019 Louisiana Prize (Film, Food, and of course Music!!) Fest this Fall, which will undoubtedly use this space well, in addition to other locations. Shreveport is growing again, culturally, and very much so in the right direction. This garage shows this growth. And on some nights soon, you'll be able to hear that growth as well!!

I can't wait to go back to enjoy some local entertainment and I already know Bears to be a good room for blues and jazz so being an old rocker I will prepare myself for this next generation of musicians and see what the live music scene has in store for me,and hope to find it live an well and would like to add that all the staff including the doorman (who's a vocalist) were all nice and friendly so I shall return.

Lots and lots of people here, especially on summer weekends. For those maybe not from the south, the heat and certainly the humidity might seem overwhelming as this is an outdoor live music venue. Most of the acts seem to be cover bands but also mostly, they seem to hail from the Dallas Metroplex and are actually quite good. Honestly, these Dallas area cover bands, or tribute bands as some are called, are almost as good as the bands they are covering or paying tribute to. Seriously. And at my age and at this point in my life (cough, lazy, cough, cheapskate) I'd rather see these bucket list bands in cover form here for free than pay beaucoup bucks to see the real deal, probably in Dallas. Recently, I saw the Maroon 5 cover band from Dallas, Animals, close out the summer season here, and they were outstanding. I don't even really like Maroon 5 that much but these guys in Animals were just spectacular. Sounded just like the cd or radio. I mean, just like it. And what a crowd for that one. Packed. Bossier loves its cover bands. Hurricane Alley is safe and makes for an enjoyable night out. Food and drinks are readily available for purchase at these all-ages events. BeauJax Crafthouse and Frozen Pirogue are right there. Fridays and Saturdays these free shows go from 7pm to 11pm. Parking in the lots around the venue is free. There's also a huge outdoor flatscreen tv on the wall showing any major sporting event. Just be prepared to stand for the duration, unless you bring your own chair, which you also can do. Being outdoors here, it's also nice for me to smoke a good cigar while enjoying these bands. I hope they can bring an Arcade Fire cover band from Dallas here soon. Or a tribute band for The Cars or The Police.

That's not to say, that this place is lacking in its own unique charms. This place pre-dates the cell phone. Upon entering, one may Flashdance back to a time, when people sat at a table together and...talked...with their actual voices...to each other (the horror!). And complete and total strangers approached complete and total strangers in the hopes of no longer being complete and total strangers (Somebody call the police!). I have never actually checked, but I'm willing to bet this place doesn't stock Red Bull. And to order one, would probably get one a beer mixed with Bloody Mary Mix in return. (Which is delicious, btw!!) Betty Lewis and The Executives are a local, longstanding lounge act in these parts, and have held residency here in this particular lounge on any given Friday night, for quite a length of time. Betty Lewis, is to Shreveport, what Wayne Newton is to Las Vegas. She is our Frank Sinatra. Our own Chairlady of the Board. And for as long as she has stepped up to the mic, it seems, her backup band, The Executives, have also been right there. So much so, that it almost seems like Lewis is Betty's middle name, and, and The Executives, is her true last name. To try to say her name, and not follow it immediately with, and The Executives, is a near-impossibility. To see the local icon Betty Lewis, and hear her equally iconic band, The Executives, should be part of the Shreveport Bucket List, for sure. See and hear these local legends here, and if not here, please see and hear Betty Lewis and The Executives somewhere, and soon!!
