Legends Escrow is the company my friend/realtor recommended me use for escrow when I purchased my house back in July 2011. They were really friendly during the interaction and made everything clear to me. The process was smooth and accommodating to my schedule. Communication was excellent through both email and phone calls. I did not cash a check because it must have been lost in the mail and they were on top of it. I received a phone call from them mentioning that the check they issued me has not been cashed yet so they sent all the paperwork that came included along with the check for me to keep for my records and so I could deposit the check! Most other companies would not have done the same due diligence as well as taken care of me. Our family has worked with them at least four times to date and my experience with the staff is always very positive; and I've always felt as though they really listen. This review is for Joe Salvatore and his team of 15 or so escrow ladies!!! Joe is the very definition of Quality - he's a standup honest guy. I consider myself very particular and very hard to please. Joe and Vickie Everly listened to our situation and worked very quickly to create solutions for each and every predicament that we had immediate issues on; before even opening the escrow deal. There were a lot of people involved with the sale and my relatives made this deal more complicated than I thought humanly possible. I didn't have any major problems - I was the buyer's agent on a transaction. Vickie Everly is pretty fast at responding to emails, though some emails could fall through the cracks - make sure you follow up with them if you don't hear back within an hour or two. She receives up to 300 emails per day. I went into their office and everything looks nice and tidy. A sign that they are good at organizing. read more

What pond scum. I complained about all these extra fees that they charge. Like a $35 "archive fee", which was explained to me as keeping the files on their server for five years. Or a $25 "e-mail fee", which I complained about because nobody had ever sent me an e-mail (so they sent me one). There are numerous fees that apply to sending info from one person to another. That's all done electronically, nowdays, so why I am jammed over $100 for that. I demanded that those fees be proved, so that I could verify that they really were paying for something. They said they would (Linda, my account mgr), but never did. My complaining got the "e-mail fee", a whopping $25, reduced from the $1K they charged. I write programs for a living. If I told one of my clients I was going to charge him $XX for a program, but then told him I wanted another $25 for e-mailing him, and $35 to keep that program on my server, I'd be out of business. I hope these guys go belly up. They deserve it. read more

Very disappointed. Lending agent never contacted me herself- all by mail and very impersonal. At the day of the signing it was the most frustrating. Notary was reviewing all the paperwork which shocked me. I definitely expected someone from legends reviewing all the paperwork rather than her. I felt so rushed!! Definitely wouldn't recommend legends. Receptionist had a bad attitude every time you call or walk in. We did not have a good experience with Legends Escrow in May 2012. Our escrow officer/branch manager was difficult to reach and didn't return phone calls. At the close of escrow, she put the wrong address on our deed. I called her to ask her for advice. She admitted that was her error, but her only remedy was for us to call the realtors, who also had no ideas on what to do. The County Recorder's Office sent the returned deed to the title company. They sent it back to Legends, where it has been sitting for months because Legends didn't know what to do with it. The clerk at Legends was completely unapologetic, as if this happens all the time, and why am i so upset about it. By the way, it was in a "box" that they had to look through when I called to ask if they had it. read more

We (buyers) did not have a good experience with Legend's escrow. There was a major issue with communication the entire escrow period (21 days) and all the while they were informing our real estate agent that the sellers would be able to provide funds. None of the parties on our side were informed until the very last day of escrow that the sellers were actually negligent over $100,000 between Title and on their mortgage. This information was withheld the entire period and even on the preliminary title report we were informed the sellers debts were paid or would be paid off. It was discovered when escrow tried to provide proof that all funds had been paid that the sellers were actually behind much more than we were aware. Our mortgage company did not know any of this information and we had to tell them ourselves, after escrow had told them to release funds. We believe they intentionally withheld information to try to push the sale. We were able to receive almost all of our money back, we lost inspection and other fees, but it was an exhausting and frustrating experience. We luckily had not terminated a rental agreement, but if we had, we would've had no place to live since it was not until day 21 we found out that the sale would not go through. We will not be working with Legends Escrow again. read more

We sold our first house in San Diego & they were the title company associated with our sale. I wish we would have had anyone else. We had bad customer service from our first meeting. Susan Moser seemed nice enough & we thought it was a very smooth process until she came in & said "we have a last bit of unpleasantness to take care of". We were informed that a judgment was attached to our lien . She assumed it would be resolved with proof of my husbands previous divorce. we were quite unhappy with this news but even more so that they sat on this information for weeks without notifying us before the signing. WE could have had the divorce papers with us at signing & we would have had way more time to resolve this matter. That was his personal information that he had a right to know the minute they dicsovered it! I even asked if we needed to bring anything to the appt & we were told no, just your license. It turns out the problem was more complicated than they assumed. They didnt think the dates of the divorce & title transfer was done before the judgment & told us that money would be deducted from our sale. Long story short, they argued over the semantics of all this when the attorney who filed the judgment did not want brian's money & told them it was NOT a lien! WE had to pay an attorney to fight this & extend our closing date to resolve this. They were holding our escrow hostage all because they didnt agree that the filing date was AFTER the signed documents , as well as a phone call from the attorney saying they dont want our money. If all this wasn't bad enough.... Susan seemed to avoid the straight up answers about anything I asked via phone or email. Instead of just being honest & saying they made a mistake, she brushed me off to my realtor to explain the problem. I would NEVER recommend this office or this representative to anyone buying or selling their house. Beware!!! read more

Legends Escrow was the seller's choice. Unfortunately there is a minimum I expect from an escrow service: getting the names right of the people buying the property. I found the early on and received a response that they were aware of their mistake. Then, it shows up on the title incorrectly. Wait, it gets better - I had to demand that they pay for the additional notary fees to correct the spelling. C'mon people - when a husband and wife buy property, what are the chances that their last names are different by two letters? And, how hard is it to notice this when the names are literally next to each other on dozens of pages? read more

I am giving one star only because ZERO is not in here!!! This escrow firm is by far the worst I have ever tried to deal with. I own a local termite firm and 2 times now Legends did NOT pay me for my escrow submitted clearance for the sellers that was REQUIRED by the lenders and used to close the transaction. After calling them they tried saying at first it was the banks fault. I said sorry but I spoke with the bank and like ALL transactions it is the escrows' responsibility to disburse the funds for all bills once escrow closes. Second lie was telling me it was the buyers realtors fault! They had zero to do with the report or clearance and were not supposed to pay anything! Lastly after 15 minutes on the phone the officer says, Oh we just did not have enough funds to pay you. So knowing they were short and instead of calling me, the bank or the lender or seller, they just do NOT PAY ME! My call to them was made 4 weeks after it closed and they never communicated anything to me or the realtors. TERRIBLE ESCROW....DO NOT USE THIS PLACE! I have been doing this for 38 years and have NEVER had any escrow treat my company in this manner. Recently I had another deal with Personal Escrow, Roxane Rubia officer. They forgot to pay me on a job and when I called, Roxane said and I quote, " I am so sorry Steve, we will get that out right away or if you want to come by we will have a check ready for you!" I sent information to include home owners insurance at closing and after numerous unreturned emails from both my realtor and myself, Legends states they do not handle insurance for cash transactions. Also I was not comfortable signing one of their documents the way it was worded and the escrow officier was very condescending and insulting expecting a lay person to be used to real estate legalese.
