The love of my life passed away a few weeks ago, he passed in his sleep. With his passing there…read morewere issues with the VA doctor signing off the death certificate and the VA also calling the time of death to remove him from the home after I found him. With all this said, he was taken to this funeral home. From the time their team came to get my loves body from the home to the day I came into their office this team of people are an amazing group. My grief has been so overwhelming there are days I feel I cant breath, Max, Alex, and their whole team has embrassed all of us. They worked hard with us to get to the bottom of the discusting way the VA handled this retired veterans passing etc. Max and Alex spoke to all of us with compassion and care, it was like they were going through the passing with us. They took such care of my love remains and even when the body could not be prepped for cremation due to the VA dragging its feet, they did everything they could to make my last time with him as special as they possibly could. Alex made me feel as if we both knew him for ever and was there to hold my hand and just cry with me. Max is very soft spoken and as gentle and kind as anyone could be. This team is amazing especailly when someone grief is so overwhelmig you feel as if you cant breath, they were so kind and got me through this. I hope the higher up management knows what kind of people they have working for them, and know this team is unique and wonderful. Thank you all for your kindness, compassion, and yes the love you gave to all of us, especially my Robert. I will never be able to thank you enough. May god bless you all as you have blessed us. You will all stay in my prayers and will forever have my gratitude. God bless you.

Surprise Funeral Care Yelp Review…read more I made an appointment with Marty Lee Thompson, the Funeral Director. From the beginning, he was a gentleman of the highest order. Marty was empathetic, professional, and presented their services with extremely "low-pressured" information. When I told him that my deceased wife wanted to be cremated, he said that they have a selection of urns, then immediately reassured me that I could buy my own urn elsewhere if I so choose. When I asked him about a smaller urn for my in-laws who wanted some of her cremains, he again said that I was welcome to purchase one elsewhere. Marty also said that there was no rush to pick up my wife's ashes. He even mentioned a former client who took a whole year to pick them up, and Surprise Funeral Care properly stored them and did not charge her for anything extra. When picking up the cremains, I met with Ned Altizer, the manager. He was also very respectful and privately put some of my wife's ashes in the urn I purchased elsewhere. The physical atmosphere of Surprise Funeral Care is immaculately clean, appropriate, and comfortable. When we arrived, they had everything set up for us and went through all of the details and choices that had to be made. Using a large TV screen hooked up to a computer, it was easy to see prices and ask questions. I hope it's a very long time before I have to do business with this establishment again, but during this dark period, they were kind, understanding, and extraordinarily professional.

However in this case, I must…read moretell you that the level of care, compassion, empathy, and overall concern for me and my family was exceptional. My mom died last October 2025. She had been sick for a number of years, so her dying was not unexpected. Nonetheless, her death was still a shock to the system with how fast she died after her kidneys failed. Since she was under hospice care at the time of her death, and upon recommendations from friends at my church, I had hospice call Camino Del Sol to come pick up my mom after she died. Meeting with the funeral director the next day was one of the worst days of my life. She could have pushed a bunch of expensive products on me that I didn't want, but no she let me lead the conversation and tell her exactly what my mom and I had discussed prior to her death. And in the end, my mom got everything she wanted. I would HIGHLY recommend this company to anyone who has experienced a death in the family. It's a family owned business and they will treat you like family.

During the most devastating time of our lives we had to shoot darts to select a funeral home for Dad. Nadine our funeral director went above and beyond any and all expectations. She was there for every question, every last minute change, and her patience with all of our siblings and my mom was a 10/10.

Unfortunately, there is no shade near my family's graves. It was so hot our phone shut down from the heat. It would be nice to sit for awhile after a long drive to visit. Next time we will definitely plan to visit when it's cooler. If you go into the office someone will drive you out to where your family is. We followed behind. The lady that works at the front desk is very nice and helpful. The old lady that came out from the back and was cranky and was not wanting to take us out. She called a maintenance person to take us out. Two guys ended up showing us where to go and cleaned the vases for us. They were very nice and helpful.

Lunch was served buffet style, with staff serving the food. Adequate amount of food to feed everybody.

The cemetery itself is a little smaller than others I've seen but nice because it's walking distance. You can even drive on the dirt and park closer. The viewing room is spacious. They even have side room as well. It has comfortable chairs and each row provides tissue boxes. They had flowers for purchase. They also supplied us with little pamphlets with our family members names, pens, and sign in binders. I believe they even allowed us to have own person to come officiate because we wanted a monk for the prayers. The services depends on the package you purchase. The casket is nice and elegant for what we wanted. John and his staff did an amazing job with everything. For one of the funerals, they had a vehicle drive the casket to our Catholic Church and back with police escort. I think there was even people that helped us carry the casket too. The cremation process was easy and they provided us a nice vase to put the ashes in. For another funeral, the burial process went smooth as well. The staff had a gurney transport the casket to the vehicle. They had set up a canopy for shade and chairs to sit while being outside for a long time. Luckily, our spot was easy to get to. The workers communicated very well. They asked us preference on how the dirt should be covered with the flowers on top of it. They sympathized with our family and told us that we are welcome back anytime for visiting since they are open 24/7. They allowed us to take as much time as we wanted and didn't rush us. Funerals can be pretty expensive but I really appreciate this place working with our family in a short amount of time (one week). Last thing we need do it pay for the gravestone. We will be returning for that. Overall good experience.
