We lost our 8 year old dog, Bubba, two weeks after his throat cancer diagnosis. Losing your pet is never easy, but especially after such a short and unexpected diagnosis when they are still young. Donie was patient, sympathetic, and an all around professional. He set up an appointment window for us to bring our baby to him and have us time to say goodbye one final time. Donie's building and surrounding area are clean and well-kept. Even more important, we received a certificate of individual cremation and even some of Bubba's fur, which was unexpected and so thoughtful. While I hope to not need his services again anytime soon, I'll continue to use Donie just as I did this time. The drive from Atlanta was completely worth it. We lost our 17 year old Alice-Cat unexpectedly when we were out of town. Of course, I freaked. We immediately packed and hurried home, praying for the best but also started looking for cremation services while Gregg was driving, on a Sunday. When this happens, you need someone to talk to *right now* and Donie was there. We called him as soon as we got to town and he met us at his place of business ... on a Sunday. He has a kind, caring and compassionate spirit and I trusted him completely with Alice. My dog of 13 years passed away from cancer recently. It was expected but it didn't make the hurt any less..you think you're ready but you're usually not. Mr Donie Burke was so amazing to deal with. We're a military family so I knew leaving my best friend buried here just wasn't an option. Mr Burke went above and beyond being kind and helpful and just truly so understanding. First of all, if you are reading reviews for this service, we want to express our deepest sympathy to you. Losing a pet (fur baby) is an indescribable event. We lost our puggy boy so tragically and unexpectedly. The world stopped and has seemingly stood still since his passing. We are devastated but we realize this is part of the circle of life. We didn't know what to do, who to call, or where to go. We made countless calls, most of which went unanswered. At a loss, we gently placed our boy in a box and decided to drive to Legacy Pet Cremation to see if anyone happened to be there on a Saturday afternoon. Mr. Donie Burke was there gently taking care of another lost fur baby. We frantically walked up to the building. Mr. Burke greeted us with the most caring eyes and face. We told him we had our boy with us and we had no idea what to do. Our hearts breaking more by the second. Mr. Burke carefully and quickly assisted us. Mr. Burke showed genuine empathy the entire time we were there. He calmly explained the options and what we could do to lay our boy to rest in peace. He took the utmost care of our boy and assured us he would treat his body with respect. This experience was one of the most difficult events of our lives. Puggy was supposed to turn 9 years old next month and live several more years. God had a different plan. A plan we do not understand now. I do know God led us to Mr. Burke. My Silky Terrier Stuart had been powering down for a little while now and even though I knew it, I was devastated when he became so I'll in in 3 days time that by the fourth day I held him in my arms and told him it was okay to leave if it was time. I told him he had been an awesome friend to me and I would love him and miss him forever and I would be okay. 5 hours later he was able to walk over to me even though he was deaf, blind and had been extremely week, crawled into my lap to cuddle with me to take his last breath. I had to find something very special to send off such a special Dog. Mr. Burke was able to give me that. He is very comforting and understanding of how much a pet is loved and a part of your family. He explained everything to me and showed me the urn Stuart would be returned him to me in. He gave me time and privacy to say a final goodbye.
