The apartments themselves are nice and the community is well kept. One of the best things here is the maintenance team. They've always been on point whenever something needs to be fixed, and requests are handled quickly and professionally. It's definitely one of the better maintenance experiences I've had compared to other apartments in the area. As far as noise goes, I would say it's about the same as most other apartment communities around West Des Moines. Nothing out of the ordinary compared to other places I've lived nearby. Overall, if you're looking for a solid apartment in the Jordan Creek area, Strathmore is definitely worth checking out.

I'm writing this review at 12AM after my neighbors woke me up with their screaming, as it is a…read moreregular occurrence. The walls and floors are so thin, you can hear normal talking. However, when your neighbors have the loudest conversation/phone call possible in the middle of the night, you can hear every single word. Between that and loud tvs and dogs barking for hours at a time, you will get the absolute worst sleep of your life in this apartment. Reviews that say this place is quiet are flat out lying. The building quality is unbelievably cheap. Loud noise literally shakes the walls and floor. I've lived in many apartments for over 15 years across a few states and have experienced nothing this bad. I've endured this nonsense for 12 of 15 months of my lease and I can't wait to move out. I've never been able to walk behind my building during my stay. It has consistently been covered with dog feces. Recently, more feces has moved to the front of the building. Gross. Once you start complaining, they will play phone tag or just ignore you. This place went from about 4.5/5 to 3/5 in the year that I have lived here.

I am sorry to see the reviews posted by another former tenant. I must say that my experience has…read morebeen completely different. I have lived at this property for two years. I have always found the manager (Michelle) and the on-site maintenance (Rony) to be attentive and helpful whenever I have a concern to be addressed. Regarding the facilities - I LOVE the 1940s brick construction and central courtyard. The high ceilings and oversized windows let in ample natural light. The hardwood floors in my unit are beautiful. The lowest level houses the laundry facilities. I don't find it surprising that people turn the lights off when nobody is down there. During the day, there is generally some light that shines through the half-height windows. It is admittedly not a secured space. That being said, I have never had trouble with noise, vagrants, or partying at this facility. Everyone here seems to be either a long-term tenant or a graduate student for nearby Des Moines University. To provide some context - these are not high-rent units. My rent is $565 per month - comparable sized units nearby (with disgusting carpet) rent for $700 to $800. If controlled access hallways and fluorescent lights are your priority - this is not the unit for you. If you enjoy the charm of an aged building, then Windsor Terrace provides unrivaled value.

If I could put zero stars, I would. The management here is inept and incompetent. For the amount of…read moremoney that these apartments cost, you would expect decent customer service and kindness. Instead, this company has hired a towing company which has towed its own resident's cars because they are too indolent to even come up with an alternative system. There are only approximately 16 guest spots. If those are full and you park outside of that, expect your guest to get an immediate tow. If you are a resident and your tiny placard isn't showing perfectly, expect a tow. Residents give their plate numbers to Watermark but this lazy management can't come up with a system to give those plates to Crow Tow or come up with stickers that you actually place inside the windshield... they are too cheap and too incompetent to even come up with anything remotely creative and instead would rather slap people with fines. Alternative housing like Broadmoor does not have a parking problem or issues with customer service. Additionally, Watermark appears to not care for the safety of its residents. While staff may outwardly appear caring, during the winter months, sidewalks as well as handicapped areas were not salted and were often icy and dangerous. A broken air conditioning unit took over a week to be fixed by this management in the hot of summer. I am leaving Watermark because I am so unsatisfied with my experience here and I write this review as a warning to anyone. I wish I knew these issues before.
