PARENTS BEWARE !!! The following is an 100% honest review based on my experience. Legacy Academy looks clean and safe but don't be fooled. My daughter attended Legacy Academy when she was 6-9 months (mid-Aug '24 thru mid-Nov '24) and it was a fucking nightmare from the start. I'm talking billing issues, misleading use of cameras, diaper rash, and multiple incidents involving trauma to my child's head - but, for this review we'll focus on the most recent incident. On Nov. 19th Legacy Academy had a gas leak so they evacuated all the babies outside the building (on a cold & rainy day). This part is important because the gas leak is what led to the next chain of events (and a very chaotic morning in general). When the infants were brought back into the building they were placed in the toddler room where gas levels were "safe" but apparently the environment wasn't safe because there was no age appropriate seating for babies, which brings their emergency practices into question. While waiting in the toddler room, my daughter was sat on top of a toddler table (not a high chair, not strapped in) and was fed yogurt. The spoon dropped on the floor and the teacher stepped away to clean the utensil but left my baby unattended. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what happened next - Yes, my energetic 9 month old crawled off the table and hit the floor!!!! But wait, it gets worst! This incident happened sometime between 8:30-9am, however I wasn't notified until 10:41am (timeframe violates the parent "incident" notification policy). When the Assistant Director (Michelle) finally called --she didn't even tell the full truth. She called to tell me that my daughter fell and hit her head on the table, so I asked her to repeat that part just to be clear about what happened....also asked did she fall off the table. She said NO she only hit her head on the table - the lie detector determined that was a LIE!!! Luckily, there were witnesses in the room that were able to recount and confirm the TRUTH. Plus, the teacher was very open and honest and apologetic about everything. Lying about a child's incident (especially one involving head trauma) is very scary and dangerous! Far worst than the teacher's mistake in my opinion. The owner (Barbara) and assistant director (Michelle) at Legacy only cared about protecting themselves and the optics of the incident. I mean why else would they wait so long to inform me and then LIE about what actually happened. Side bar - this was the second time she fell over and hit her head but that was a different room / teacher - maybe I'll do another review to cover that incident. So parents beware and don't be fooled by the nonsense they speak about we're loving and caring like an extended family, blah, blah, blah....If that were true Barbara or Michelle would have personally reached out to check on her the days after (we never heard from them and we never returned) I honestly never thought I would have to write a review like this but I just don't stand for the lies and lack of transparency. I'm only sharing my experience because this could be the one reveiw that helps a parent decide the best place for their child. If you love your baby DO NOT send them to Legacy Academy. read more

We have 2 kids at the school, one that started in early 2023 and one that started in late 2024. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and truly care about their kids. The curriculum is well received and both kids learn so much. The leadership team there are very friendly, open and engaging. read more

My child has been enrolled at Legacy Academy since early 2024 (started in the infant room) and wanted to share our experience and how much we love Legacy! - The staff is incredibly kind, patient, understanding and is always open to feedback and questions from parents. They truly listen to what we ask/say and respond accordingly. - The day-to-day leadership on site is incredibly attentive, knows each child by name and can easily speak/provide support to teachers or inquiring parents. - The curriculum at Legacy is top-notch. Their integration of reading, problem solving, Spanish, music, and outdoor play is excellent. My child at less than 2 years old can count to 10 in both English and Spanish and name all colors. This is due directly to their day to day experience at Legacy. - Legacy offers opportunities for parent-teacher conferences to sit with their lead teachers to learn about how your child is doing, different benchmarks they monitor for age, and ask any questions. - As a parent, the programming at Legacy has been a wonderful experience for my child and especially as a working parents, has given our child the experiences and celebrations that we so appreciate. Some of the school wide activities include: spring festival (with games, petting zoo, pony rides), parents night out, trunk-or-treat/halloween celebrations, holiday and birthday classroom celebrations, spirit week, book fairs, school photo sessions and so much more. - Legacy offers breakfast, snacks and lunch and keeps our child well fed. Not only is the food offered nutritious and delicious, it's exposed our child to different food that we might have not offered her at home. - Legacy's classroom structure is based on 6-month ages (12-18m, 18-24m, 24-30m, etc.) which allows for low teacher-to-student ratios, personalized attention but also activities that are specifically catered to their age. This also allows bonds to be formed with their classmates, as they are generally all moving together. (I will note based on other reviews that movement to the next classroom is reviewed based on readiness as well as availability in the next class. Readiness seems to only generally result a 1-month delay but Legacy strives to maintain ratios as closely as possible so its not possible to move up 5 kids to the next class, if 5ish kids cant move out of that class to their next class.) Legacy has become an integral part of our child's livelihood and we can't imagine attending anywhere else. I would highly suggest checking out Legacy in your daycare search. Legacy truly cares about each and every student. The Legacy teachers, staff and community has become our village and we will be there for the long haul. read more

Owner: Barbara Wood; Assistant Director: Michelle Temple I feel compelled to share my experience with Legacy Academy Smyrna, franchise #49073 at 4390 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna GA; especially regarding leadership and practices that heavily impact both staff and families. * There is a consistently high turnover rate among teachers and staff, suggesting poor morale, inadequate support, and frequent dismissals when concerns are raised, forcing passionate educators out of the door. * Racial bias is overt in classroom placements. White children are consistently moved into advanced groups at a much faster rate than children of other races, even when academic performance does not justify it, creating a clear inequality in opportunities. * Kids are often held back in lower-level classrooms longer than developmentally appropriate, seemingly to extend tuition payments rather than support educational progression and readiness. * Parents who ask too many questions or advocate for transparency, especially about curriculum or advancement, are frequently labeled as "difficult." Instead of collaboration, they are met with defensiveness. * All major decisions--from classroom assignments to policy changes--are made solely by Barbara Wood, the franchise owner, not by the on‑site teaching team. Barbara, who holds a business degree and marketing background, appears to have no professional background in early childhood education * ASSISTANT Director Michelle, (bc there is not full director) while present in communications and named in glowing parent testimonials, does not appear to influence policy or educational decisions meaningfully. Despite staff working directly with children day in and day out, neither the teachers nor Michelle have authority--only Barbara does. * The leadership structure is skewed: while corporate Legacy Academy claims oversight and biannual visits to maintain standards, the individual franchise owner's directives prevail, regardless of staff input or classroom reality. * Reports from online and employment sources describe the owner often working from home, monitoring via webcams, and micromanaging remotely, while the on-site director reportedly "can't direct" effectively because authority remains centralized with the owner. * Attempts by staff to raise concerns or highlight inequities have reportedly led to retaliation or termination. The overall picture is of a facility leveraging the Legacy Academy brand name while functioning under singular leadership without relevant educational qualification. The staff, who are qualified and work daily with children, are marginalized; families advocating for accountability are seen as problems; and children's learning paths appear driven more by profit motives than by genuine developmental considerations. read more

This was our first experience with a childcare facility and it was not a positive one. In the short time we were there (around 4 months), multiple teachers left, a child was left outside, one got locked in a bathroom, two scabies outbreaks , hand foot mouth outbreak and n ex-employee logged into the messaging system and sent out a very concerning email "exposing" the owner.. Considering we were paying a premium for this facility, these were infractions we couldn't overlook. I do not recommend this establishment. read more
