He was careful to ask how much I wanted the areas stretched, and exactly where I wanted to focus the stretching. If the shoes still weren't stretched enough, he would charge again to stretch them more (though I think he said at half the usual price), which I didn't like - I won't always know how much I need my shoes stretched and it makes sense to stretch a bit at a time since you can't 'un'stretch them. As others have noted - he doesn't necessarily get things done when he says he will. He said my shoes would be ready on Monday - I went on Tuesday - and he asked me to come back on Wednesday to pick them up. I was not happy about this as I did have to come out of my way to get them. He did make up for it by giving my shoes a complimentary polish though. I found the price to be high - it was $8 for glueing the one insole (only had the problem on one side), and $20 to do the stretching. Plus taxes. Cash only. If you're going via subway, when you get off at Finch, head towards the North American Centre exit at the middle of the station, go through the doors and turn right - if you look all the way down the hall, past the Rexall on your right, you'll just be able to see the "Y&F" lit up past the elevators.

My friend and I dropped off our shoes for store owner Vahid on a Wednesday. He had a customer at…read morethe time but was quick to assist us as soon as he was done. Our shoes include a range of men/women shoes: Gucci loafers, Ferragamo loafers, Hermès sandals, Louboutin loafers, YSL Chelsea boots, Alexander Wang ankle boots and some other pairs of shoes. Most shoes are damaged at the bottom where the wood panel, leather bottoms or heels are wore out. One pair is more severe as the leather is detached from the sole. Vahid has done a fantastic job to give new life to the pair by patching some leather and reattaching the leather to the soles without much trace at all. Vahid is professional as he not only quickly identified the problems with each pair, he is also helpful in advising us how the shoes can be repaired and offering options for us to choose. Some shoes require new fully protected bottoms whereas some can last with just protected heels. Vahid chooses the best color to match the original shoes' bottom so that the layer is unnoticeable from the side. Overall we are very happy with Vahid's professional work!

They said the glue of the sole to the boot was really old and has expired and needs to be re-glued. I told them that they were given to me by my late mom and I am from out of town and I had to get them fixed. Normally it would take them a few days, but they were so kind that they expedited the repair and I was able to pick them up within a few hours. I am so impressed with Professional Shoe Repair. They are quick, and did an impeccable repair job. I highly recommend!

Bayview Village Shoe Service - New red soles places on my louboutins

I asked my Aunt if there was a place she recommended and she directed me to Bayview Village Shoe Service. In the back of Bayview Village, it's an unassuming tiny shop. You can't enter from inside the mall so you'll have to go out first. Given that it's in a mall, there is heaps of (free) parking. The entire sole of the shoes were replaced and I was charged $50 (plus tax). Pricing isn't too bad and the shoe repair was done in three days (dropped off my shoes on Friday afternoon and picked them up on Monday afternoon). There has to be a downside ... cash only. I was pleased with the shoe repair so I'll be back again.

It is a small store that you enter from outside the mall next to TImothy's and Loblaws. They charge $35 for the red plastic soles for the front of the shoe (where you step and ruin them, loub lovers will know how easily they ruin) plus HST. I picked up my trial pair last week and was very impressed. Brought in 2 other pairs and will pick them up tomorrow. Hopefully they will be perfect like these ones!

He's added rubber sole protectors too, which have lasted for a lonnnnng time. All of the shoes have come back in great shape. He recently repaired a pair of Sperry Deck Shoes for me and did them so well, that I think they were better than new. There are patches inside to reinforce them. They're already 20 years old and will last another 20 I'm sure, He's repaired a few pairs of my girlfriend's riding boots too. They get a lot of wear and tear where she rides, but he was able to bring them back to life with some patches and extra heavy hand and machine stitching. His work has extended the life of our foot wear for years longer than they would normally have gone and much more affordable than buying new. He's repaired a leather coat, a few wallets, and other leather things. Some not quite like new but perfectly usable and in much better shape than when I brought them in. Happy to keep going back to him for repairs but I'm running out of things for him to do. It's a very nostalgic visit to his "time capsule", an old shoemaker's shop as it's been for a long long time. Nowadays, people are just throwing their shoes away now instead of getting them refurbished, which is sad. There aren't many like him or many shops like his still in existence. It's sad to see business dwindle down for this type of craftsman and sad to see so many pairs of cheap poorly made shoes sold for expensive prices, just to end up in the garbage. Take your leather things to him for repairs and refurbishment and keep him and others like him in business, before they're all gone. He's at 7719 Yonge Street, Thornhill, Ontario
