I went there to get my dress altered for a wedding. I made the mistake of telling the woman that I have never had anything tailored before. A dress that cost me $140 was going to be $120 for a hem and taking it in. She exclaimed that because of the 4 layers at the bottom of the dress, it would cost $90 just for the bottom. 2 of those layers are crinoline and are not sewn once cut. Listen, I understand that a high end tailor would cost this much, but a local dry cleaner? Please.
The main reason WHY I am not going back is due to the attitude given to me when I said that I cannot afford that price. In a snooty tone, she exclaimed that there would be no where cheaper. I made the mistake of not asking for the price before she pinned the dress up, so I can see why she would be a little annoyed. However, if you want to keep clients - especially one's that write review ALL THE TIME (not on this site) - be nice. And it doesn't help her credibility when her business smells like the Chinese food takeout that's seeping through the walls from next door.
I called around locally and found a place in Limerick that is charging me a lot less - like half. Oh, and another option for me is a tailor near the wedding... reasonable as well.
So, Hanover Cleaners, I used to recommend you, but no more. I will strongly recommend against you... you lose.
