Dr Crisler has performed substantial crown and bridge work for me over the past 2 1/2 yrs for which…read moreI paid him over $15,000. All work was paid for in full at the time of service. Dr Crisler has stated that the reason that the screw of my very expensive crown comes loose every few months is because I grind my teeth. Yes, I do, however, this should not be causing a chronic fastening failure. While recently having Dr Crisler tighten the crown screw of this molar again, he said that he was going to 'fix the bite' so that there was not excessive force on this molar. While doing so, he TOLD ME that he was going to 'fill in' a couple of teeth, which to me meant that he was making adjustments in an effort to correct the bite. While checking out with the front desk, I was presented with a bill for not just the $153 cleaning fee, but an additional $369 for 'Resin-1 Surf'. There was no discussion between Dr Crisler and I while he was in my mouth about finding new problems and what the options were. A discussion should have ensued to determine if we should : * Do nothing * Fill in these crowns * Replace the crowns with 2 new crowns as the existing crowns are cracked and have detached multiple times * Replace the tooth and those adjacent with a more permanent system * Other options ???... Dr Crisler went ahead and apparently did a 'Resin-1 Surf ' on these 2 teeth and after a few minutes of work with some filler and a smoothing drill, I was charged $173 for tooth 22 and $196 for tooth 28. Prior to this day, I had no issues with these teeth and was not aware that they needed any work. As previously stated, I was under the impression that everything that he was doing was to ' correct the bite ' for the back molar that needed the screw tightened again. Had I been asked what should be done with these 2 teeth, I would have declined treatment. The purpose of my visit was to get my teeth cleaned and tighten the screw of the loosened molar. Dr Crisler now approaches the front desk where I am discussing the bill with the front office. Rather than calmly asking me to come back to his office to discuss, he proceeds to loudly berate me in front of his staff and other patients. Dr Crisler then accused me of attempting to extort his work for free. Recalling that I paid Dr Crisler over $15,000 for his work, always at the time of service, I was perplexed as to why he would accuse me of extortion. He eventually agreed that he should have at least discussed options with me prior to proceeding with this work. Taking $369 of my money deserves a conversation that should have been initiated by Dr Crisler. Dr Crisler did an excellent job of rebuilding my front upper bridge a few years ago for which I paid him $7,063 at the time of service. I paid the bill and left.
