He was very short with me and when I said I wanted a filling instead of a crown, he asked me to never come back. He even made me cry saying mean things while he was drilling my tooth. He was shaking as he drilled my tooth and totally jacked up my filling so my invisiline braces no longer fit. His staff is very nice but he is terrible. I would never recommend him.

I have had lots of rough dental visits to other dentists in the past so feeling comfortable and welcome means a lot! Their office is located right across the river from Stillwater in Houlton, right off the new 36 bridge. Easy to find parking in their lot! The team is smaller and they get to know their patients well. You are always greeted with a friendly smile and I've never had to wait long in the lobby. I've enjoyed the conversations I've had with each team member on my visits. I've had several cleanings over the last few years and a filling. I had to get the filling adjusted a month back and was in and out super quick. They even send cards in the mail around the holidays or just to thank you for visiting their office. The Park accounting system forces my wife to be listed as a dependent under my name. Park can't/won't provide her with her own account. 2. During a routine exam, the dentist offered to smooth out a small front tooth "chip" - which only took about 2 minutes. My wife was unexpectedly billed over $100 out of pocket. 3. Again, during a routine 6 mo. exam, my Hygienist told me I was due for Bite wing x-rays. I told her that I thought it was too soon but she insisted I was due. My insurance didn't pay (they cover 18 mo. interval) and was billed $85.00 out of pocket. 4. We objected to all 3 issues above both in person and in phone calls with no satisfaction - not even apology or compromise (i.e. splitting the difference) Each time, an offer was made to have the office manager "get back to us". This manager is non-responsive. Don't hold your breath!!! Looking for a new dental provider.

I spent about an hour at the appointment and ultimately left without receiving any cleaning at all. After the initial exam, I was told I would need a deep cleaning instead of a standard cleaning, and that I needed to schedule a different day. When I asked if I could just proceed with a basic cleaning as I had waited a few weeks for this appointment, I was told they could do one if I "signed a waiver", after agreeing to this she changed her mind and said she "ethically" couldn't do a basic cleaning on me. To give more context, I am in early stages of perio as most people are when they age. I have no bone loss, and the majority of my "pockets" are in the 2s and 3s with some molars in the 4s and 5s. I am not categorized as someone that desperately needs dental work by far. I've had four cavities my entire life, and was told I had none at this appointment as well. I can't help but think this was somehow a money grab. The staff member was polite and professional throughout, but to be told that without agreeing to a much more expensive treatment, I wouldn't receive any cleaning at all was so strange. I wound up later being quoted about $1500 for the cleaning she said I needed. I understand wanting to provide appropriate care, but I would have appreciated clearer communication ahead of time and more flexibility in options as not everyone has dental insurance or $1500 laying around for basic dental care. I also want to mention that I was surprised to learn this clinic is part of a larger corporate group. It presents itself like a local, standalone practice, so I didn't realize the connection until the day before my appointment when they called to say I had been to one of their other locations previously and therefore didn't qualify for the new patient pricing. That part was fine, but it felt misleading since the other clinic has a completely different name and is in another city. I had no idea the two were connected--especially since I hadn't had a great experience at that prior location--so that added to the overall frustration.

They didn't contact me, I took time off work and drove to the appointment only to be turned away because their hygienist went home sick hours prior. Never got a call or message with this information and now I'm getting notifications to reschedule the appointment I didn't show up to. I had requested multiple times to note "no fluoride treatment" on my chart as my insurance doesn't cover it and every single time for a cleaning they tried to gather payment for the treatment I declined. They need better processes and communication tools vs putting the frustration on the patient. I have transferred my care due to the continuous issues with this office.

She acted like she didn't have time for me, even though I had an appointment. There have been a couple of very unfriendly people at the front desk who act like they hate life and their jobs. Also, we have tranferred to another dentist after several years with this office, due to them telling us we could not make any more appointments because I had to reschedule a few due to school obligations, even though we gave notice. It's our fault we had to cancel, but their hours are limited and not very compatible with school or work hours.

A very friendly receptionist called me the next morning and I was given an appointment the following day. Their schedule is very flexible and I am grateful they were able to see me so quickly. I went in for a routine exam/cleaning and found I had two cavities. They were able to get them filled in that appointment and took scans for retainers so my teeth don't shift (sorry, mom, the dog ate mine from grade school). All in the same appointment! Every staff member I interacted with was warm and pleasant. Special shout out to Paige for her exceptional care and consideration. She was sure to explain everything that was happening or going to happen throughout the entire appointment. Truly a top notch dental assistant! Dr. Christoper Coulter was wonderful as well and made sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process and took special measures to ensure maximum comfort and satisfaction during a dreaded process. Monika was the dental hygienist that cleaned my teeth and she also took special measures to ensure I understood what she was looking for and how the process was going to work. Overall, no one really enjoys going to the dentist, but this place is top notch. By far the best dental clinic I have ever been to. I was sure I would be admonished, treated with derision and made to feel shame, like in most of my life's previous dental experiences. (I am 47). Boy was I wrong. Dr Flodin and Dr Gossai have been amazing. And Pam too! In fact I was just there today. Dr Gossai was thorough and soooo nice and her whole demeanor made me feel safe and ok. (That's big for me). And she did a great job on my teeth! I put off any dental appointments till the last minute due to fear. But every time I go there, my fear gets a little less. Southill Dental rocks.
