[This review was also posted at a duplicate business page under "South Bay Tree Care, Inc."]…read more We couldn't be happier with the work South Bay Tree Care, Inc. did for us. We have a very large pine tree that was getting old and very messy, not to mention it was a fire hazard dropping dead needles onto the building roof. South Bay did a great job pruning and cleaning up that old tree--now it looks young and green again, and all the dead wood is gone! From the estimation process, to safety on site, to the final cleanup, Sonia and Jorge were always positive and polite, and so professional. And their price was very competitive, too. We couldn't be more pleased, and will recommend them to anyone we know who needs tree care!

After replacing the turf with rocks and drought-resistant plants last summer, once again, I needed to have the system repaired and refined. The drought has brought severe water restrictions, so conservation is number one, but my established plants and trees must stay alive! Reyna's provided a thorough analysis of what needed to be done, along with options for implementing those plans, and estimates of the costs. We agreed to move forward, and the appointment date to begin was set. They arrived early that morning, with three highly efficient crew members working all day. They did a great job of trouble-shooting the unexpected problems that arose, and kept moving forward with a positive attitude. I felt reassured that I'd finally found the right company to resolve my irrigation process problems, once and for all. They came back to complete the work a couple of days later, and the system is working beautifully. I waited a full month before writing this review, to test the system through four weeks of hot weather. Really great service, a well-educated, cooperative, hard-working crew, and FAIRLY priced, too! Highly recommended.

Do not come close to hiring this company you will have made a big mistake. This Betty Gonzalez…read morelady who owns this company will do a good sales job but beware. I had a prior gardener I paid $100 a month and in the span of a year he killed 4 trees, had lawn develop all kinds of brown spots and the whole drip system needed overhauling. This is when Betty said she could fix all these issues for a reasonable price and even do maintenance afterwards for $90. She seemed like she knew what she was talking about so I hired her. So I bought 6 trees to replant the dead ones and was away on business when her people supposedly planted the trees, reseeded the lawn, and fixed the timer. When I finally checked on the job a week later I noticed all of the back sprinklers were on and everything looked super wet. Noticed one of the trees she planted looked almost dead so I called her right away and asked her why the sprinklers are on and the lawn looks so wet there are mushrooms growing all over the place. Well she told me she was out there and checked everything and that all was good. Then the neighbor next door came out to tell me the water had been going on all week and that they were going to shut off the water but didn't know how to do so. So I called back Betty and told her this and she insisted everything was fine. Turned off the water and told her to go back out and check. She basically was a no show when she said she would come but then insisted she knocked on door and nobody answered. In the meantime she only wanted to be paid by venmo before she even started work but then when I looked up her name there was lots of Betty Gonzalez's out there but none with the number she was using or the account name she was giving me. So I ended forcing her to take a check after the job was completed which looking back I should not have even done. I guess I was still buying into all her lies that she was legit. So instead of actually being honest that her people were absolutely incompetent she just basically never got back to me and disappeared never to be seen again. Got another gardener out there and he basically shook his head saying they basically they did not plant any of the trees correctly (planted way too high above ground). The timer was also not wired correctly with the new drip system they put in so that's why the water never turned off. Water bill was $600 for the week it ran. Paid her over $350 for the job so with a dead tree on top of it this company put me out $1000 in costs and nothing done correctly. I actually had to hire another person to redo everything. The final straw was I look at my bank account 3 weeks after all of this and guess what Betty Gonzalez did. She actually tried to re- cash the first check I paid her again that already cashed. Yes this lady is fraud. Thank God my bank caught it and returned to sender. Please avoid this company at all costs. PS-- there is another MG Gardening on Yelp with no reviews and a different number. It's probably the same person so stay away from any MG Gardening or Betty Gonzalez....

Stevensen's Landscaping has performed two different projects for me and I have been very pleased…read more First project was a front yard, "start from scratch" a blank slate so to speak with absolutely no landscaping. I met with a designer first who mapped out cement steps, and beautiful and natural plants scattered throughout the front with a river rock bed. Included a few mounds and boulders. Also was a beautiful arbor that was made and fencing around certain areas of the front yard. I had never worked with a landscaper before, so the only caveat I would say is be sure you are aware of all of the expenses because they add up very quickly. It was a major sticker shock situation. Second project was to build a patio out of existing stone pavers with artificial grass in between for a beautiful design. This project took much longer than anticipated because the wrong size turf was ordered, which was quickly remedied; they did not hold me responsible. What was unanticipated was the tedious job of ensuring the turf was nailed down. The guys on the job were meticulous in ensuring everything was measured and leveled perfectly. With that said, it was another situation of many manpower hours that were not expected. I understand that once a project gets started, it is often unpredictable how it's going to turn out and this was the case here. I am currently in the midst of getting another estimate from Stevensen's Landscaping so I'm sure that tells you that they do great work. Just pay attention all the details of your job and make sure you go in with your eyes wide open.
