She had a severe UTI and was in kidney failure, not to mention anemic due to the blood loss. The pain and suffering her cat went through and the anxiety it caused my daughter was unnecessary! Dr Jones genuinely demonstrates professional, pet-centered care. She is compassionate, answers questions with kindness, and exudes a strong passion for all animals. Hubby didn't know what to do but to bring me here. Y'all were so sweet, showed us all the kittens you had & there was a family of 5 kittens there that was rescued off the street. I fell in Love instantly, wanted all of them. One of the ladies behind the counter says; "you know one of them is missing a foot?" With tears still running down my face I said; "What, you mean he's a pirate?!" And that was all she wrote folks. It was fate. "Skippers" was meant only for moi! Arrrrr! :)) The tears stopped instantly, as it was the beginning of a beautiful new friendship :) I can't tell you how happy I am that you put "Skippers" in my life & his sister GinGin they are inseparable. The other male kitten, his brother, "Bombata" got so YUGE they "play" fought too much, he kept biting skipper's" little footless leg bloody all the time, so my brother & his two kids took Bombata & the twin girls. They are all doing great. We all visit together :) Moi "huître" AKA "Bunny Kitty" just showed up on my doorstep one day in Florida as a kitten. A little gift from God. We didn't adopt her here, but she travels with us everywhere we go with "Skipper" & his sister "GinGin" they are very happy together, they even travel in the same cage, GinGin thinks she is her baby I think :) Anyway, y'all did such a great job with my other kitties we adopted here we just brought Bunny Kitty here for her surgery also. We needed a refill but forgot the medicine bottle at home. Dr. Kapolka waited for us to go home and return with the bottle (during an evening visit), instead of charging us full price for a brand new bottle. The staff is always friendly. When I found a pregnant kitten on the street, the front desk person calmly talked me through her labor on a Saturday morning. I can't imagine trusting my baby in the hands of anyone else. That was the simple prognosis and I knew that going in. It is not unusual in that circumstance to be offered multiple strategies to extend life starting with a full blood chemistry work up and on to IV's, multiple meds, etc. But Dr. Shafer was fantastic. We got right to the point that there really wasn't much we could do but help him be pain free. She coached me that cats can drag out the dying process and that, if he was lingering painfully, I should call her back and we'd discuss alternate plans. Fortunately, he passed peacefully about 36 hours later. I commend Dr. Shafer and her staff for excellent, honest care.
