Caper Beach Club  Unit C311…read more Dear Owners of C311, Your condo is spacious, comfortable, clean, functional, and lovely.  We regret staying at The Caper Beach Club 3/22-3/29/25.  According to Diana (front desk employee) my family and I are, 'bad customers'. We're bad customers because our 5 & 6 year old boys were playing basketball with a floating toy we brought from home. See picture. Diana told us that the toy violated a pool rule, but suggested our children and their new friends should play with that toy on the small grass area next to the standing water and service street. (By the way, it's gross to walk around standing water to enter/exit the pool area.) Here are the pool rules that are most challenging for families: -No inflatables -No flotations -No ball playing Seriously, at a pool?? What if your kid can't swim? Who wrote and approved these? The same people who collect 20% of all rental income for the building? Yep, those grumpy anti-kid patrol curmudgeons who complain to the front desk. They're unliked by the rest of the property owners, and obviously us renters who selected this location because it seemed like a good place for families. On 3/27 the whole building was displaced due to no electricity and no water. Unbelievable. They hung these notes on our doors. We understand that sometimes unfortunate things can occur. When we asked Diana about compensation, or discounted options for us to have lunch, etc. they told us they were not responsible and would doing anything for renters.  Diana told us we could use the pool during that time- BUT the condo owners we met at the pool told us the pool's electric filtration system will not work and to stay out of the pool. (The same outage situation occurred a just before our arrival.) Thanks to the folks at Pink Shell for giving my family a discounted rate for a day pass. We appreciate the Fort Myers Beach hospitality.  We support Fort Myers Beach. We were excited to visit again after a couple of missed years. Our favorite places are Bay to Beach, Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise, Nervous Nellie's, Junkaroo on the Beach and so many more.  We'll be back to Fort Myers Beach, but will not stay at Caper Beach Club again.

Everything was well thought out, everything matched and small touches like having plenty of beach towels in the closet and not having to go to the office to collect them. I loved it because it was not in the touristy area and was quite, making the beach not over crowded or hearing traffic at night. Close to the Publix and had a little kitchen area if you wanted to keep some food or heat up food as well other than just having a coffee machine like most places. You can tell that the owners really pride themselves on giving their guests a clean, high quality room at a great price. I would recommend it to anyone and look forward to going back!

The trip out to the island went off without a hitch unlike friends of ours who had travelled over the day before who did not have a good experience. We spent a lovely day at the beach and at 4 we showed up back at the marina with plenty of time, waiting to board the ferry for our 4:30 departure time. By the ferry, under the only available cover from the scorching Florida summer sun, no seats were available for us to sit. That section was heavily occupied by various workers that were also looking to escape the sun and board the ferry. I found a shaded spot near the office where I was able to stand with my kids to keep them out of the sun and cool while we waited to board the ferry. While we waited I asked two different crew members that were unloading a cargo ferry if/when I was able to board since I wasn't standing directly in front of the ferry itself given the lack of cover, to which they replied "oh you can't board until 4:30." It was 4:29 when I was told that. The last man I asked was walking next to the captain, both have which just came from the bar, drinks in hand, heading toward the ferry. Seeing this I decided it was close and we would be leaving soon. I start to gather my three kids and 4 bags and send my cousin with my 11 month old over to board the ferry first a few minutes later. She comes back and said the boat was gone! It was 4:33! I ran to the dock which was just on the other side of the office where I was standing to see that she was right, the boat had left. I was crushed and in disbelief as I'm sure you could imagine. Being told by multiple crew members I couldn't board then 3 minutes after the departure time I missed the boat was infuriating. I felt like I was set up to fail and no one cared. No one offered to help I was just out of luck. I called the 1-800-576-7343 number to try and speak to someone for help but could not leave a message as the service was not set up. I approached a crew member, Joseph and asked if he could call the ferry back and explained to him that I have been here waiting and asked multiple people to board and was told I had to wait. He responded with "well it's not our job to make sure everyone is on board but I'll see what I can do." I was floored that was his response. It was insult to injury at that point. I thought to myself what was the point of making a reservation if it meant nothing. He made a call to what I assume was a manager and returned to us with "good news is you can enjoy 3 more hours of paradise and get on the next ferry." At this point my children are all flush with heat, noticeably sweating and exhausted from the day. To say to a mom who just missed her only exit off the island, strategically picked to avoid toddler meltdown, to just go off and enjoy the day was an additional blow. I was in shock that not only was the situation being placed on me as it was my fault but that additionally he was doing me a favor by allowing me to get on the next ferry. The fact that multiple people saw me, I was next to the office, I was clearly trying to escape the sun with my kids, one of which has special needs, it just felt like it was "got you" type moment. At no point was there any resemblance of a "wow I'm sorry that was your experience, let me see what we can do." Or even a "it was an oversight that they left without you, our apologies there is another ferry at 7:15." We showed up at 7 for the next ferry with now overly tired toddlers and boarded the ferry. We stood in front of the boats entrance this time to ensure they didn't leave without us. Joseph was on board and even drove the shuttle from the ferry back to the cars parking lot. Overall my experience was really upsetting and felt like an intentional trick. It was my first trip using the ferry service and was looking forward to using it many more times in the future. I cant express how truly disappointing it was.

Choose The Pink Flamingo in Ft Myers beach & stayed at their Captiva building in an oceanfront fully equipped Villa. All but the restaurant food was perfect . The girls wanted to try a good car ride and we ended using this company for all our outings but 1. They loved the excitement of riding around town in this comfortable 6 seater golf cart with a tiki roof and Caribbean music and drivers were courteous and friendly . They were also more reasonably priced than their competitors. I added then to my contacts and will be using them on our next getaway, just as we will go back to Yucatán Restaurant (great food) and Dixie (waterfront local spot with great food, music and ambiance )

The museum has a whole room of Edison phonographs, a restored Model TT truck, and an Edison quote about being nervous when something works the first time. Being a project manager, I appreciated that one. Ford's garage out back has his old cars up on stands, and the grounds are really nice to walk through. Plan on about 3 hours. The audio guide app is a nice way to do it, with someone talking you through each stop, but it needs some work. Half the time it played the last stop's recording instead of the one I was at. The gravel paths are fine but wear on you after a while. Drive around to the back for parking, there's lots of it. The festival itself was free and mostly for families, with only a few vendors. Glad we went.

I don't know why but I wasn't as impressed this time as I was on prior occasions. The place looks almost the same but somehow it seemed a little different. Nevertheless it's part of American history and I still enjoyed my self guided tour. I might return again as there isn't that much to do in SWF except dine and hit the beaches. Still , it was interesting to see two tycoons buying homes close together so as to maintain and enjoy their friendship. Their homes brought back memories of my childhood when we had an "Ice Box" in lieu of a refrigerator. They had a wood burning fire place for heat , we had a coal stove. American Middle Class families now live better than the rich in the 1920's. Progress ?! The place was filled with tourist on the day of my visit and it was obvious that for many it was their first time visiting the Estates. Ah , the lives of the Rich and Famous ... and the beat goes on

Having stayed at Seaside in 2008, I thought I'd give it another shot. I called ahead of time to…read moreensure the heated pool was working and functional. I was assured by the manager (Monica) that it was. Unfortunately, for our 7 day trip, it was only working for 1 of the 7 days. All other days, it was frigid water, around 68-72 degrees, which made it completely un-swimmable. I spoke to other residents that were near the pool deck and all of them agreed that this was extremely cold and not tolerable. After calling to report this to the manager, she became extremely rude and snippy with me, even asking me, "Well, what did you come to Florida for... the pool or the beach? Did you really think your price for the resort includes a heated pool?" I couldn't believe how rude she was. Ok, let's talk about the resort itself... the check in process was quite frustrating as the manager was all over the place and kept giving me wrong information and didn't let me know how to access the pool gate, elevator, etc... When I went to check in, the room reeked of bleach as if the cleaning staff had doused it in the stuff. It took hours for the smell to dissipate. The rooms are very old and tiny/cramped. The shower frames are coming off the hinges and the master shower water doesn't even permit a hot temperature. The bathrooms are so small and tight that you can hardly fit in there. The room smelled musty as well. The master bed was like an old beat up cushion. It killed my back! The elevator to get up to the room (we were on the 3rd flood) was very old and rickety and took forever to go anywhere... if you tried to take the states, you would risk your health as they were extremely slippery and you had to nearly tip-tow down. When I called after our trip to report these frustrations, the manager continued to be very sarcastic and rude to me and then hung up. Having vacationed down in Ft. Myers Beach for 20 years, I know lots of places and I would never stay here again. Overpriced, doesn't deliver on promised amenities and is very old. Save your money and vacation and stay somewhere else!

Overall, we had an amazing experience here…read more The one downside is there are a ton of bugs around. I got over 100 bug bites, we counted. I don't blame the resort for this, because they had a sign saying that they spray, but they can't control the bugs. I should have put on bug spray, but I've never experienced that many bites before. So I highly, highly recommend that if you visit here, make sure you spray yourself with bug spray. Otherwise, even the bug bites wouldn't stop me from coming back. The rooms are gorgeous, they have been recently redone and they are one bedroom suites. There is so much room. I could stay here for a week and not feel trapped. The kitchen has a dishwasher, a full-size fridge, a microwave, there is so much space. We had dinner at the hibachi restaurant which I reviewed on its own page, but I highly recommend. We enjoyed getting drinks at the pool bar. My son loved the ice cream at the quick service near the pool. The pool area also has outdoor games like ping-pong, and basketball throwing. That was a fun touch. The pool has a slide which my kids loved. There was ample seating at the pool. I think what really makes this resort is which room you get and what building. We had the building right next to the pool, with a partial beach view and it was amazing. If we come back, I would request that building again. Sanibel Island has so many seashells that you should be prepared to take a ton home. That is the huge draw of this place. Everyone we interacted with was super nice and I really enjoyed our stay here.

Check-in is at 4pm and checkout is at 11am, but guests are welcome to use the amenities on the same day as check-in and check-out. When we checked in, we were greeted, given a map of the property along with directions on how to get to our condo unit, and handed the resort wristbands (to be worn at all times to enjoy the amenities), keycards, a "charge card" to easily bill things to the room, and a parking permit. Staff was friendly. There's plenty of things to do on the resort that are included with your stay - pickleball, tennis, kayaking, paddle boarding, pool, hot tub, bike rentals, fitness center. Beach towels, chairs, and beach umbrellas are provided. There's also some poolside games like ping pong, foosball, a big connect four, volleyball, and cornhole. There's a Recreation Desk to handle equipment check in/check out and sign waivers. Spa and onsite dining are additional. We had a garden view, two bedroom/two bathroom residence. We were pleasantly surprised to have a washer and dryer in the unit. The kitchen was stocked with basic dishes, silverware, some pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There was a coffee pot, ironing board, safe in the master bedroom, and hair dryer in each bathroom. There was a big tv in the main area and in each bedroom. The main rooms also had ceiling fans. The A/C unit worked well (and we put it to work in this Florida heat). We also took advantage of the screened in patio area. (I'm glad it was screened... those no-see-um bugs are no joke! I'm still itching...) Each condo also included a complimentary shelling bag from Sundial Beach Resort, which you will need at the beach because the shelling here (in the Seashell Capital of the World) is awesome! They even have a seashell washing station near the main pool because shelling is a big deal here. We loved the quick access to the beach, and we were even able to spot the sunrise to the left of the shore each morning. Housekeeping was very thorough! They came everyday and I was just expecting them to change towels, take out the trash, and maybe refill bathroom toiletries, but they swept (much appreciated when sand gets everywhere) and tidied up the kitchen too. They also changed the sheets on the third day. The room has a QR code to scan to leave a tip via phone, but make sure you get their name to tip the individual directly (otherwise, don't forget to bring cash to tip the hardworking staff). My only notes would be that the shower water pressure was pretty weak in our unit and the only clock was on the microwave. Yes, clocks are pretty prevalent on phones and smartwatches these days, and sure, we're on "vacation time," but some of us are old-school. Speaking of the prevalence of phones, I'm a fan of their texting notifications. The property texted reminders leading up to the stay and sent over a schedule of events for each day. I wouldn't necessarily say that the events are anything to plan your day around, but it's a nice option if you're looking for something to do on the property. They had open pickleball play in the morning, a water balloon toss one day, and daily poolside bingo (with prizes - ice cream coupons or a drink at the tiki bar for the bingo winners). Poolside bingo was very popular. You can also use the text line to contact them with questions or special requests. I did use the text line and they were super helpful and responsive (responding within minutes). It wasn't quite concierge services - I asked a specific question about whether paddle boarding was open, and instead they provided a generic response to visit the recreation desk (I was hoping they would ask the recreation staff for me and relay the info). A note about the water sports, sometimes these activities are not available due to outside conditions. Even on a nice sunny day, the winds might be too strong and they'll put the boards away. Conditions can change throughout the day. They had a dry erase board displaying whether that activity was available. We were able to do paddle boarding one morning, and the rec staff helped bring out the boards and equipment, but then we were left to our own devices to drag the board into the water - there was no real briefing or beginner's tutorial. Overall, we had a fun and relaxing stay at Sundial Beach Resort. We felt very welcome and enjoyed our time in Sanibel. Special shoutout to Alba who helped us get squared away with our reservation. She is the sweetest and really got us excited to visit.
