I got incorrect information regarding how to setup the business I was starting. He got my tax id…read morenumber setup for me but the first name was incorrect when Mr. Alfred completed the request forms , although mr Alfred had my full name . Mr. Alfred said it wasn't a big deal( although if your name and social security number don't match guess what the IRS does to you?) , but that he would send in a request to change the first name to the IRS. I waited about 60 days to follow up with mr. Alfred. He stated your not going to get the IRS to respond to you to say if they changed your first name to the correct name or not. So I called the IRS, I did have to wait a while. It was worth it , the change was made over the phone that instant to reflect the correct first name. My concern was his lack of attention to detail and the lack of caring about it !!! . So I do not recommend this Certified Publix Accountant for any type of business.

As for the error, in the taxes, I have provided screenshots of emails between myself and Mary. Moral of the story do not use these CPAs, as proof by Todd's lying below and unwillingness to make things right when customers have been wronged. I used Culpepper for three years and will not be returning. The first year was excellent, but my experience declined sharply after that. In the second year, communication with Mary became difficult, she was hard to reach and frequently offered excuses for delays. Our taxes are somewhat complex, and I expect extensions, which was the case for both 2023 and 2024. In 2023, despite poor communication, we finalized our taxes shortly after the deadline, so I let it go. 2024, however, was unacceptable. Mary prepared both our business and personal taxes. While working on our personal return, almost a month later, she discovered an error in the business return and attempted to blame me, claiming I hadn't communicated a change. That change was clearly included in the information sheet we provide every year. She eventually corrected the mistake at no charge, but only after deflecting responsibility. Meanwhile, weeks went by between responses, filled with the same excuses as the prior year. She didn't file our taxes until July, over three months past the deadline. I paid the bill but raised no further complaint at the time. Later, my husband called to give them an opportunity to make things right after they charged us an exorbitant fee for both returns, plus penalties from the late filing. Instead of addressing our concerns, they refused to let us speak with anyone other than Mary. She repeatedly placed blame on me and insisted she had done her due diligence, despite the fact that I had documented the gaps in communication with a clear timeline. Nothing was resolved. Because of this, I will no longer use Culpepper and strongly caution others against doing so.

We had our appointment at the end of April and our return was not complete until early June. I found an error that reduced our tax liability by $7,000. I was told that we would be getting a letter from the IRS regarding the late filing and that I should send that to the CPA and she would request an abatement of the penalty since we had never filed or paid late before. I assumed that was part of the process that we had paid for, but then I got an additional bill for almost $200. If I had known that there would be an extra charge, I would've just called the IRS myself.

Buckle up. This is going to be long. Do not work with Walker & Cummings. Specifically Eric…read moreCummings. This was quite possibly the worst customer experience I have ever had. I met with Eric in March of 2021. I needed help cleaning up some financial stuff, getting me set up properly for business taxes, and was really hoping to hire someone that could help me throughout the year. I took 2 file folders to Eric (this is important to remember), went over everything, and left there feeling relieved and confident that he was going to do a great job. That was the last time I felt confident in him. Over the next ELEVEN months, I emailed and called and emailed and called and MAYBE talked to him every 3rd time. He lied repeatedly and said he had called/emailed me. Zero record of that anywhere in my accounts. He didn't do ONE thing he said he had done. I finally asked my husband to reach out because maybe he is just one of those not great guys that prefers to work with men. He told my husband that he had part of the work done and was just waiting on information from me (never requested) and would "call him back in 24 hours with the list." Not to my surprise...he didn't. Which finally led my husband to see that this was not a ME problem but an ERIC problem. Two weeks later I finally sent an email to main desk and him and told them that I wanted all my paperwork put together and that my husband would be coming to pick it up on a specific date by a specific time. So my husband goes and low and behold Eric is off in Jamaica, never acknowledged or let anyone know that we were coming, the receptionist had no idea. So she gets him on the phone and Eric proceeds to tell my husband that I NEVER gave him any paperwork and that I was not telling the truth. My husband calls me to let me know and that is when I had it. I called the receptionist, gave her the full rundown of what had been happening, and told her I wanted a phone call from Donna Walker in the next 20 minutes or I would be calling back every 15 minutes until I spoke to her. She didn't call. And so I proceeded to have to call back. Miraculously Eric remembered after my 3rd phone call that I INDEED had given him 2 file folders and he THINKS they are at his home. But we surely can't know that because he is out of the country and now we have to wait for his WIFE to get home and check for my PRIVATE PAPERWORK. And it's Friday so of course, I won't even know if it is there or even be able to get it until Monday. Monday rolls around and oddly enough the wife is TOO BUSY to bring my PRIVATE PAPERWORK to the office of Walker & Cummings so I have to wait until Tuesday now. Tuesday comes and wonder of wonders my paperwork is found and waiting for me at the front desk. I have had ZERO contact from either Eric or Donna apologizing for their horrible customer service or the lies Eric told my husband. And now that I've had this experience I go back and look at reviews and this actually seems to be the norm with Eric. Do not work with Walker & Cummings. It's a waste of your time.
