Okay first thing I want to say about this stadium is make sure you bring a hat, a fan and drink lots of water before you go to any game year. While the stadium is decent size. There is very limited covering for shade. I love that they have various types of concessions around the ballpark. And you can buy souvenirs for their home team. Right near the entrance/ exit. Stadium itself is in good shape. Entertainment during the changing of the innings for fun and engaging. I came here for one of the spring training games and definitely will be back. Parking is interesting as the stadium is in the middle of a neighborhood. So plan accordingly before you go. There is a mix of paid parking and street parking around the area but with the size of the stadium that parking can get filled rather quickly. Note e if you stand right outside of the stadium, there's a likelihood that you could catch a foul ball right on the street. I witnessed that firsthand as I was leaving the stadium and one of the vendors straight up caught a a fly ball coming over the stadium wall with his bare hands. It was quite a sight to see. I feel bad for any cars driving by during that time though. read more

Lots of parking in nearby businesses ( mostly auto repair and tire shops), in the nearby neighborhood, and some in their own lot ( not super big) Staff is consistently helpful and friendly ( Tony at the concession stand -got chicken tenders and fries in a souvenir helmet) was awesome, and the team store always seems to have great merch as well as some good stuff on clearance. I have been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. Even during rain delays, a good time is always had. The deck is a favorite of my son's. That is where he likes to sit and watch the game, so that is what we do. Except from being far from the food, I like it out there too. Came here to watch the Phillies take on the Pirates, and I have to say, LECOM is a fantastic place to catch a game. The area around the stadium is dynamic, with plenty of great places to eat and grab drinks before or after the game. Once inside, you can walk right up to the bullpen, which gives you an awesome close-up view of the pitchers warming up. The park itself is clean, and the staff and fans were all friendly, making for a welcoming atmosphere. Even the "bad" seats in the house still give you a solid view of the field. Doing tourist things Beach n Ballgames was on the list of to-do's .....Great place to catch a game! Not a bad seat in the house in my perspective. The small number of food stations had a variety of menus and pricing wasn't expensive.. The beverage stands both adult and kid friendly had reasonable prices and I was pleasantly surprised. I could only Imagine how rockin this place is during spring training season!!! The parking is super close to the main gate - I am in firm belief that the overall planning and logistics of this stadium are professionally done and handled well! We parked right behind home plate!!! This stadium is a must visit if in the area and you like baseball. With the family friendly vibe. The walk to the outfield is just was the girls needed. Bartender at Kona bar was super nice and got me a much needed cup of ice and ice cold beer on this day. 10/10 times I would return... We have been coming to this ballpark for many years and I can't believe I have never written a review. The ballpark is beautiful and seems to be well maintained. It's much more exciting to come for spring training, but coming to see the Marauders is a nice way to spend a summer evening. Since the crowds are low, they only have a few concession stands open and the food is just ok.....typical ballpark food. We had seats behind home plate which were great. I should have brought my seat cushion as the seats tend to get hard after awhile. They have a few crowd interaction things which are really nice for the kids. If I could stop my review here, I would give them 5 stars. We had 3 young adults slightly behind us who were yelling at the players, dropping the f bomb and just annoying everyone around them. After about the 4th inning, my husband went and explained to an usher what was going on. He came over and told them he heard there was some cussing going on and they needed to stop. 2 innings later they started again. You would think the usher would keep an eye on them, considering there were only 622 in attendance at the game. Nope....he did nothing. We finally got disgusted and left and spoke to him on the way out. He couldn't have cared less. 2 other people in charge talked to us, with the last one giving us his card and telling us to call if we wanted to see a game. How about you take my info down and reach out to me. You allowed 3 people to ruin an experience for many. read more

I've been to most of the MLB spring training parks now and this was the worst experience I've had so far. The park itself is quite nice, but it was plain that they were not ready to host a large crowd, (I attended Sunday 3/24), and as a result some of the services were comically bad. For starters, all fans are funneled through one pinch point -- with a single metal detector -- for entry. At the game I attended this resulted in a LONG line, wrapping all the way through the parking lot and down the street. (We found out later that there was a somewhat shorter line coming from the other side, but there were no attendants to advise any of the large crowd on our side.) The same held for many of the concessions. E.g. if you wanted a lemonade, you needed to invest at least 2 innings in that effort, as you stood in not one, but TWO long lines, as they have a bizarre process where line one pays for the drink, and when you're finally through that, you must return to the end of a second long line to wait to pick up your drink. I felt sorry for the workers -- they didn't seem to get any breaks, and the poor cashier also takes turns helping to prepare the drinks, so the first long line has long stints of not moving at all; and no one helps re-supply the stand, so the process often stops as they have to go get more ice, lemons, etc. If you can make it on a day when the crowd will be small, and the incompetent management and understaffing don't impact you, it is a charming ballpark and you'll probably have a lovely day. We still enjoyed it, but it could have been so much better, and it IS better at all the other parks. read more

Being a native Pittsburgh girl, we decided to drive down to Bradenton to go to a Pirates spring training game. The game started at one on Sunday, and the weather was perfect. The stadium is very fan friendly. Every seat provides a good view. My husband spent 40 dollars a seat and got us great seats near the first base line. Before the game, we walked around the entire stadium to check it out. There are plenty of drink and food concessions so everyone should be able to find something they like. We opted for the bratwurst sandwiches, fully loaded. They were delicious. A great way to spend an afternoon. read more

This isn't a review comparing spring training facilities as this was my first game for spring training. Overall I thought the experience was great and I would come here to LECOM Park again. We parked a few blocks away at the Girls and Boys Club lot for $10 and got a ride via golf cart to the front gate and then a ride back after the game. I noticed most parking is by surrounding businesses so why not donate to Boys and Girls Club. Good view from any seat really. Ample concessions with your standard fare such as hot dogs, Italian sausage, nachos, peanuts, cracker jacks and a good variety of beers. Perhaps not the gourmet foods at newer MLB parks but this isn't that so why ding them on that. What I liked was the prices for food and drinks was very reasonable. Friendly and efficient staff. If you like sun sit on third base side. If you want a chance of shade sit on first base side or to the top of the infield sections. Kids were able to walk around the park and stand above the bullpen in right field and talk to the players and get balls and autographs. read more

What a great place to watch a Pittsburgh Pirates spring training game. There's not a bad seat in the house - they have regular stadium seats, and also bleacher rows where you'll probably want to bring some cushioning if you're staying for a full 9-inning game. Seats are affordable, and the markup for buying online is minimal. The volunteer ushers were friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of concession stands and large restrooms throughout the stadium. Parking lots are plentiful, with the stadium outfield lot charging $15, and other local lots charging similar or less. On the day we visited the game, there were four young kids in the row in front of us, and each were either tossed a baseball or were given one by one of the coaches. Definitely a fun experience. read more

There are definitely plus and minuses to this park. Pluses - I found the park to be very clean, there really isn't a bad seat in the house, maybe if you're outfield but generally good views from all seats and they also have covered seating which we made sure we had seats under because it was about 88 degrees and very sunny. We also have an amazing breeze up at the top (we were the second level from the top). There are no lawn seats, most spring training parks have them. There are wide walking spaces around the park which helps you to not feel like a sardine. They also have local craft beer at their Craft Corner stand, and prices aren't horrible. Minuses - This park is dated in design like they don't have signs for section numbers on the outside to know where you should be going for your seats. Now the park isn't huge so you can figure it out but it would be nice if you could easily see them. There also isn't anything "fun" at this park to make it memorable or stand out. The closest thing to fun or different that I could find is a piece of artwork that is a gecko on one of the outside walls of one of the bathrooms but the gecko is dressed up in a Pirates jersey and baseball hat. Maybe next would be the memory wall in the outfield bathroom area. Nothing fun that says "Hey we're the Pirates" or whatever, you get my point. When at the Craft Corner, you order your beer/drink from one person and then go down the counter to another person to pay with your beer. Now, I am an honest person BUT I see where this could be a perfect way for someone to rip the place off. You could easily not show all drinks ordered because there are plenty of things blocking their view or if you had someone with you like I did. They asked me what I had ordered... Ben could have easily walked away with his beer and me just say what I ordered. I don't know, maybe it was just the people working that day that was doing it that way but it didn't seem like smart business. Overall, we enjoyed our game at the park and would go to another since it is not too far of a drive. read more

We always have a great time when we come to LECOM park! It is the quintessential ballpark, that many of us remember from wayback when. Although it has been refurbished to have additional seating, the overall feeling is one of a ballpark from the golden era. Home to the Pittsburgh pirates spring training camp, this ball park has plenty of seating, and even includes multiple rows of seating that are covered so that one can stay out of the hot Florida sun. Typically rows 15 and back are covered. There is one main concession stand that offers everything from the hotdog, too sausages, to chicken tenders, and even including a helmet, full of chicken tenders and fries. Yuengling is the preferred beer vendor here, not surprising given that it is a Pittsburgh team and that's perfectly fine with us as we love Yuengling. There's also a Kona brew stand up on the balcony area that does have other beverages and a full bar. Yuengling also has a full bar service as well at their stand in the lower promenade. There's a gift shop so you can pick up your souvenir merchandise for spring training for the Pirates. There is parking all around, highly recommend getting there earlier to get a decent parking spot. Most parking goes for about $20 a car. read more

Bottom Line: A pristinely clean ballpark with a great layout for catching Spring Training baseball. My husband and I went to LECOM Park to cheer for the Oriole's as they battled it out against the Pirates. What I liked most about LECOM is that you can walk all the way around the field. We enjoyed sitting in the shade along the third baseline for most of the game but when it was time to stretch we really enjoyed cruising the boardwalk/deck that winds along the outfield. Something else that is great about LECOM is the big, bright scoreboard. The screen delivers helpful information that makes it easier to track the game - something that I definitely miss at the Oriole's Ed Smith Stadium. Another great thing about LECOM Park is how clean it is. And the employees and fans were great too. There is a decent amount of shaded seats if that is something you want. We were glad to have seats far enough back along the third baseline that we were shaded for most of the game. The cool Bradenton breezes were nice too. Overall, this is a great place to escape a lingering Winter in the north and watch Spring Training baseball. read more

Pros: clean facilities, beautiful stadium, friendly crowd, great concession food with reasonable prices ($6 for brats/hotdog/burger) and fantastic staff. The mascot is engaging and just had the kids rolling on the floor laughing. My kids were handed a free ball upon entry and that just made their day! This is a really cool ballpark with a real old timey feel to it. When I walked in, I said out loud, "It reminds me of A League of Their Own!" Like, if they took down some of the signs, they could totally use it for a Hollywood movie about 1920s baseball with just a little Hollywood magic. Everything is hard core iron painted super dark green. The stands rise up high (for a minor league park) and the roof over the infield stands probably sounds awesome when it rains. Unfortunately I think the seats were old timey too -- a bit narrow and small for my big fat ass. But you know, historic.... for when people were smaller. The parking is pretty abundant all around the stadium but there's no big lot. You can park in a private lot and pay or try to find something on the street. One other note: I loved that all the cops on duty directing traffic were wearing Pirates caps. I thought that was awesome. Concessionwise, it was average. Having spent some days going to games at the Phillies facility in Clearwater, I think I might have been spoiled (we Philadelphians do really like to eat). But the hot dogs were fine, the soft pretzel was fine. I was kind of disappointed that my bottle of soda was served kind of half cold (and it was Pepsi, no Coke). But overall, a lovely time. We had seats behind the plate way up high and they were awesome. I would totally recommend getting seats up high because the wind comes through the stadium and makes it really nice and comfortable. Always enjoy the nostalgic feeling I get going to spring training games. Brings me back to so many good memories from grade school, high school, and college trips to Florida. LECOM Park is one of the best places I've been to watch a game. Great Ballpark food with plenty of lines and options so you don't wait too long. One of the key features is a complete path around the entire field with more food options and drink options in the right field bleachers. One thing to be aware of is outfield grandstands are still bench seating, so may be a little uncomfortable for older fans. Our seats were outfield box seats with hopes of getting a ball tossed into the stands. But with new netting installed for fans protection it almost made you feel a little farther from the action. I understand the intentions but really takes away the experience and the netting does hinder view. Overall great time, but be aware of some of the changes. read more

What a great ball park! Went to see a Pirates exhibition game here yesterday and had a fantastic time! The park itself looks and feels warm and all aglow with grooviness. The seating is up close and personal with the game so you really feel engaged. I dunno, maybe it's because I have spent most of 2014 in single digit temperatures for the most part, but being there, beer in hand, sun on my face, watching a ball game in early March was just exhilarating!! PNC park needs to take concession tips from this place. Their prices were a little more in tune with the financial reality for most of us. I didn't get to check out the outfield boardwalk or tiki bar because I was with family and the chance just wasn't there but it looks pretty awesome. Yeppers .... We had a great time today on St Patty's watching the Pirates play the Yankees for Spring Training. The field and game were awesome! Loved that the stadium had plenty of food options and a veggie burger on the menu. The lemonade was so refreshing :). Loved that it was a clean, well maintained stadium. Tips:Park in the City Life Church lot off of 17th. These folks are friendly, helpful and you know your $5 is going towards something good. It's a short walk to the entrance of McKechnie. Purchase a seat in the shade. Even though it doesn't seem like there are any bad seats in the house, if it's a hot day it will be worth it. Season ticket holders can enter the stadium early to watch batting practice. If you arrive early and can park on a nearby street which allows you to avoid some of the post-game traffic. My wife and I were on vacation on Anna Maria Island and we saw that the Bradenton Maurauders were having a Sunday Morning, 11 AM game the day after we arrived. Very cool. It was the last game of the season so all souveniers were 50% off, so I picked up a great hat. We sat right behind home plate and they were getting rid of most of their beer as well, so I picked up a few brews I hadn't tried. Nice. The outfield has a cool bar with Florida beers, so of course I had to get one of those bad boys. This is the Pirates minor league park as well, It shows. Beautiful stadium! Absolutely loved our visit during spring training to see the world champion Boston Red Sox take on the Pittsburgh Pirates. The hot dogs were fantastic and I really appreciated that the vendor stopped selling during the National Anthem to show some patriotic respect. Bring a hat if you are going to sit in the bleachers, you will get lobsterfied in the Florida sun as you are distracted by the action in the field. Mckenchie Field is proof you can do baseball right here, in the outdoors. Perhaps if our very own Rays got a little more local support they might be able to play baseball the way it was intended as well - outside. read more

We've seen spring training games here a few times and most recently saw the Pirates host the Yankees in mid-March 2016. This stadium, originally built I think in 1923, is a classic. We had good seats in the shade, a good thing since the weather this year was unseasonably hot. Speaking of seats, the ones here aren't particularly comfortable, although they do have beverage holders and do fold up. Parking is fair, mostly in private lots close to the field. We paid $10 for a space just a short distance from the stadium. As has become the rule at spring training, we paid a fortune for our seats, and beer and food are expensive ($8 to $11 or so for beer, $6 for hotdogs, if I remember correctly.) LECOM Park (as of 2017) was recently known as McKechnie Field named for "Bradenton resident and baseball great Bill McKechnie, who led the Pirates in 1925 and the Cincinnati Reds in 1940 to World Series titles." (Wikipedia) We've visited this field for the past several years after I became a Pittsburgh Pirates fan (after I met my hubby whose a die-hard Pittsburgh anything fan). The park opens 2 hours prior to the game. The park is clean, the people are friendly, there are plenty of stalls in each of the bathrooms, there's a nice selection of food and drinks, but no option for mixed drinks like piña coladas. There are several seating sections that are shaded, but depending on the time of day will determine how much shade you get. Parts of the Infield Reserve are shaded EXCEPT for the very back row that doesn't get the shade at the day games. The Left Field Box has a canopy that covers rows 7 and up during the day games. This trip was the first time we sat the the Left Field Box and it's actually not bad. You can still see everything and the amenities are still just as good -- including most fans at the bar! They have 2 fields - a practice field and the main playing field. The grounds crew does a great job keeping up with the field. This is really a beautiful park and is a compliment to PNC Park in Pittsburgh. A couple of tips: - Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat! - You can bring a water bottle up to 1 liter - No outside food - Bags 16x16x16 only - The lines to get in the park are relatively fast, but be prepared for bag checks, metal detectors, and have your tickets out for easy scan - Bring a baseball, glove, bat, or other memorabilia if you want the players to sign it when they come out to the field. Some players stop for the fans, but others don't if they're running late to stretch and warm up. read more

The only other stadium I've been to during spring training is Ed Smith, so I was pretty impressed with the size of McKechnie field. They have a pretty cool boardwalk area that overlooks the field. For watching the game, it was weird to have different events and contests without a big screen to watch. The food vendors were the same ones throughout and included the regular fare of hot dogs, burgers, Italian sausages, cheesesteaks, and fries. There is this one large food stand that is connected, but apparently you can only order fries at certain registers within that stand.... (I don''t know why they can't walk down a few feet to get some fries...) The pierogi race and dancing parrot were a nice touch since there was no big screen to entertain me in between innings :) read more
