hi i was shocked to hear the the knockmore primary school was to close after 41 years of good…read moreservice and the care and attention that the teachers give the mainstream pupils and special needs the board needs to think again about closing the school as i was a former pupil at the school in 1972 and my daughter also went to the school as well now my granddaughter goes to the school they have done a lot to the school over the years and it would be ashame to see it go i have to pick my granddaugher up after school which i live across the road from the school if my granddaugher had to move to another school it would be hard for me to lift her but they do not think about the options they are just thinking about the cut backs which is not right as they need their education .why move them when they are all settled in the school .i was down the town today and talking to a former teacher and told her what was happening and she was shocked to here that as she taught in the school for years why does it have to be knockmore why not the younder schools as in 1969there wer only 3 schools in lisburn that knockmore ,tonagh, and central as i was also a former pupil of tonagh in 1971 and moved to knockmore in 1972 as we moved house to knockmore estate knockmore caters for every needs to help them with their edcation and they have proved that time and time again over the years it would be a shame now after all these years when they took the special needs children in and started to learn them and also opened another unit for them what are yous thinking about whatever it is it is not going to happen as the parents and teachers and the comminuty will not let this happen. whey did you open all the rest of the schools over the years if this was going to happen they should of keep what schools was opened which was the 3 main schools in lisburn i hope this will be taken in to account as we would like the school to stay open they have got my support 100 per cent .the teachers have time to learn the pupils if they went to another school they would not the attention that they get now to learn as their would be to many in the class to learn them and they would be behind in their edcation .you talking about that their edcation is importment then keep the school open to give them the edcation that they are getting and not playing with the childrens minds from mrs jackson a fromer pupil of KNOCKMORE PRIMARY SCHOOL

As a parent and primary teacher , I have to completely disagree with the previous review. Both my…read morechildren go here as it was recommended to me on the strengths of excellent teaching and pastoral care. One of my children is very academic and is doing so well, she is definitely stretched and is expected to do very well at gcse and a-level. My other child has a statement of special need and is blooming as well. Neither has ever experienced bullying, of course there are loudmouths but you get that any school. The school is tied to letting you pick four gcses as the other four are compulsory (govt). I think taking 8 gcses is more than enough for any child.

Inclusive society and good chances for education. These are two things you will not receive here. A…read morelot of people don't know how to spell inclusive, they don't know what it means. There are particular groups of people who will harass you at every opportunity they can. They only let you pick 4 GCSE's and if you pick Double Award Science, only 3. Some of the rules here are nonsensical, and if you breach them, expect an awkward trip to your Year Head. The teachers are mixed. Some good, some not so much. All in all, this school is a disappointment because I would have expected more. Unfortunately, it is not the 'Best School East of Lough Neagh, it's not even the best school in Lisburn. If you don't listen to what they say and come here not expecting much, you'll be a little surprised. If you're smart and need a challenge, look elsewhere. In all likelihood, you'll be trapped in a class with loudmouths who never shut up, why? Well, because the class system is broken, too. You may be put in a class with the loudest, most annoying people ever for no apparent reason. And if you say anything, you'll be left hanging. Don't get me wrong, there are some good teachers who genuinely care about you, but, really, I would have expected more. Heed my advice, don't make this school your first choice.
