Indiana University Maurer School of Law - 5th Grade Moot Court

Indiana University Maurer School of Law

Visited the Indiana University Maurer School of Law on the main campus in Bloomington, Indiana. The…read morefacilities are very nice...all located in self-contained Baier Hall on the southwest corner of the campus. This location is very close to Kirkwood Avenue and all the shops and restaurants located there...Kirkwood is really the one of the main connections to student social life at Indiana University. The Law School facilities are nice and modern and they have tons of room. As you enter Baier Hall, on the right is the law library...a multi-level library complete with five-story atrium connecting all the floors. The law library is one of the best in law schools and won some awards a few years back. Carrels, large tables, easy seating, breakout rooms, and more are strewn about all five floors making for loads of options for the students. There are generally enough carrels that anyone who wants one can have one assigned for the semester. With all the seating and study space there is no main reading room in the library. With soaring windows and atrium space this library has a very open and spacious feeling. On the left as you entered Baier Hall is first and foremost five stories of classrooms - many of which are laid out like traditional rectangles, others in the pie-wedge shape...all seem to have up-to-date technology keeping students plugged in. The lecture and seminar rooms were very nice and on the newish side. The moot courtroom and other specialty rooms were also very nice...the Moot Courtroom and auditorium especially so. It is obvious the Law School is reinvesting in its property. This side of Baier Hall also houses the administrative offices, clinics, and faculty offices. There is a little cafeteria on the lower level. Lockers for the students are on the same level. Indiana's Law School is well-ranked in the top-50 tier of schools and the faculty is well regarded. Being located just an hour away from the capital city of Indianapolis, the school has the benefit of job/internship opportunities for students. We were out looking at law schools and stopped by for a visit...even though we showed up unannounced they had someone in the Admissions Office who toured us around the facilities...nice touch. It just showed a welcoming attitude, and a school that is not resting on its laurels. A good choice for a top-50 law school just 4 hours from Chicago.
