Such a wonderful experience coming here! For those interested in architecture, design, and/or art…read morethis place is a gem! Reservations are required so make sure you pick a time and day that works for you. Starting in June, admission prices will be $10 or $7 for students and military veterans. There is no parking lot, but street parking is available. I would say to give yourself about a 20-30 minute cushion to find parking and then walk over to the institute. The staff here are very helpful and accommodating. There are security guards on patrol, but they are also very nice and welcoming as long as you don't go over the top with your Instagram pics.

STUNNING. Who knew…read morean institute could be the perfect runway for Luis Vuitton?! They hosted LV for a fashion show in Spring 2022. There has got to be something special about the ambiance, landscape, view, and architecture! Let me show you! The place is NOT open to the public unless you have reservations. Parking is free if you can find a spot at the institute. Check in with front and get your access band, and then you are on your merry way to explore and take photos. It is an institute and there are a ton of researchers working - do not disturb the peace as I did. Security be watching folks like a hawk so be mindful and respectful of the rules. I got lost in the architecture and went in the building (curious yet unintentionally) - my bad. And then reescorted back to ground zero. However, at times I felt like I was encapsulated in a scary movie. Quiet, weird building architecture, no people around except a bird here and there. Then It felt so peaceful and you ask yourself "where the heck am I?!" Pictures don't do justice but videos do.

This is a lovely place to see a performance!…read more The small hall at the Neurosciences Institute is a raked, semi-circular theater. The hall is just 15 rows, front to back, 352 seats total with a center section and two side sections divided by aisles. Although most shows - maybe all shows - are general admission, you don't have to worry about being first in line to get a good seat. The sightlines and acoustics are terrific from every seat, even the back corners. Acoustician Cyril Harris worked with two architects to design the hall, and you really don't even need amplification to clearly hear someone on the stage. Being so close to the stage the venue has a very intimate feel. During intermissions there is a large covered, open-air patio, and you can step out into the Institute's courtyard and enjoy the cool "river" fountain and the really great architecture of the surrounding buildings. Another very cool thing about the hall, is that it is available free to any non-profit who would like to use it. Parking is free in a lot next to the hall. As someone else said, the signage is small and hard to see in the dark, so just follow everyone else to the busy end of the lot and down the ramp to find the hall.

I understand the the auditorium isn't really made for music but I wish they could rig up portable stage light for concerts. The lighting was a little harsh. Music sounds better with colored lights. So come on Irwin Jacobs! Hook em up with some better lighting!

The teacher simply doesn't care about the students. Only two to three people follow her lead and the rest are distracted. The class is so technical for mostly 3 year old kids and not fun at all. My daughter attended another class with dance to evolve last month at the Carmel valley location. The teacher, Ms Andrea, made the class more fun and engaging, and she called the kids by their first name since day one. The teacher at the UTC location never called anyone by their names, she never cared about the kids, and the couple of students she cared about, she gets their attention by tapping on their heads or kicking their feet. Very disappointing.

I was super impressed with the customer service before class began and all of the precautions for safety. Outdoor dance was so fun! Miss Serena was so great with the dancers (ages 3-4) and it was amazing to watch the kids dance together while outdoors and distanced. I like that they offer tap and ballet combo so the kids can do both. It was high energy and felt like I laughed and smiled more in the hour than I can recently remember. The pricing is reasonable and highly recommend! We can't wait to keep dancing with Dance to Evolve.

Todd Salovey's acting classes are indubitably the most memorable classes I'll ever have taken. In…read morethe largest square footed campus of all the UCs, it's incredibly easy to get lost amongst the faces of all the students. In every lecture of 200+ students, it's nearly impossible to be recognized by professors or even cultivate a relationship with them. But with Todd, it's different. All acting classes have a pretty strict cap of roughly 20 students, so the classes stay small. He is fantastic at breaking the ice, and bringing out the actor/actress in even the shiest and most awkward of people. I've taken three of his classes now, and at the end of every class, you will have formed relationships with all the people in your class. Only in his acting class will you forge the bonds that you do with the melting pot of students that show up. In a regular class, most people show up, take notes, do what they need to do, and when it's time to leave just pack up and go about their business. His class is different. You'll find yourself dreading the end of class, and wondering where the time went! A vibrant and extraordinary teacher, Todd has a great passion for his work. He'll usually take the class to go see a play/musical, and more often than not he'll plan a potluck for the class near the end. He is laid back, and very understanding. TAKE HIS CLASSES, ANY OF THEM! Easily the best professor I've ever had. Just don't be tardy/absent or your grade will suffer.
