Spencer is the greatest of all time. I'll take him over Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and Usain…read moreBolt any day. I graduated from one of the top universities in America, and I can confidently say that Spencer is better than nearly all of the professors there. Seldom can you find a teacher who is overflowing with knowledge, is able to convey that knowledge concisely and effectively, and manages to not display an ounce of hubris. Not only is he a walking EMS encyclopedia, he genuinely cares for his students. He wants everyone to succeed, and it shows in both the way he teaches the class and how he treats his students. His lax and understanding nature creates a more comfortable environment that fosters growth and learning. After graduating from the class, I feel fully prepared for the NREMT. But more than just an EMT class, I feel that I have learned an incredible amount of practical knowledge that I can utilize for the rest of my career in medicine. For more of the logistical stuff, I took the 5 week full-time course. It's a lot, but it's manageable--especially if you have a background in science. I was able to score above average on all the exams by basically just listening to Spencer's lectures. I PERSONALLY did not feel the need to read the book or go over the PowerPoint slides, but they are both great resources for additional help. I think the fact that I was able to do well in the class simply based on Spencer's lectures is more a reflection on his ability than mine. Random tips: -There is no wifi. So if you want to be connected to the internet, consider getting a Wifi hotspot for a month if you don't have it already -There's a Keurig machine -Don't worry too much about the uniform. You need it before your ride alongs that are scheduled usually 2-5 weeks after the beginning of the course. Of course, you will look goofy if you are the only one not wearing the uniform during class, but don't worry too much if you don't have it prepared by the first day of class -You need to print a lot of things. Just be aware of this and prepare accordingly. -I highly recommend a restaurant called "Tadian". It is super close by, inexpensive, and tasty with great customer service.

We also had some skill instructors that were amazing including Mark who will soon also be teaching there too . I also had another amazing teacher named Danielle who filled in one day and helped with skills on a different day. I will miss that experience.

I have spoken personally on the phone and via email to the owner that I wish to cancelled to my surprise, I am charged for the monthly fee on my credit card! They are able to teach the many kids they deal with every day with humor and respect and enable their talent to blossom. Yes, my kids take classes here, and have for years, but it really is a great place. Couldn't believe it wasn't on here yet. NCDA also piloted a program where the families of the studio adopted families from nearby Camp Pendleton for Christmas (Bells of Freedom) several years ago. Last year, two huge UPS trucks and the guys in brown alongside a caravan of families made many underserved servicemen's families holiday a lovely surprise. What NCDA started benefits not only the military families but also the kids from the studio who do all the prep work and hopefully, learn a little about giving back to others. As a note, the studio also offers adult classes, both during the weekday and on evenings, for beginners and beyond. There are families that have both moms and kid(s) dancing at the yearly recital. Cuteness ensues. (Note: I'm not one of those moms).

Have been attending classes regularly for the past three weeks. The instructor (and owner?), Mike is gruff, yet genuine. He seems to know everything about alcohol/mixology and the local bar industry -- and most importantly, he cares about us students. The lessons are at an even pace, easy to follow. He'll answer "stupid" questions patiently and share anecdotes to help us remember. I've learned a ton, made friends in the class, am redeveloping my confidence due to the unlimited fake bar practice in the classroom...and oh the best part is he's already sent me on two bartending gigs and has more for me this weekend! I've already recovered much of my investment and will get the rest very soon. Super stoked I took the risk, and I look forward to a fun and lucrative summer. I get nothing for posting this; rarely post reviews for anything (on any site) out of laziness. But I want to see his business succeed bc already the skill I have relearned from it has been i valuable and for the first time since the start of pandemic, I am optimistic for my future. Heads-up, when I called three weeks ago, he came across as a bit distant on the phone, which made me hesitant. I now realize it's because he's interacting with many active students and potential gigs at any given time. He's more warm and accessible in person. I recommend you meet him face-to-face. Feel free to hmu with questions. I will vouch. Or ask for me through Mike. Permission granted to give out my number (forever) if you're reading this, Mike.

BEWARE - what they didn't tell you is that their trial classes cost the same as a class and they auto-register your child for recurrent classes (despite emailing them that we were not enrolling). My children are all in MULTIPLE activities across San Diego, and never once do people offer a trial class only to CHARGE you if you decline automatic enrollment. Very sneaky policy - will never recommend to anyone as "finding the right fit" for your child is definitely not their top priority.
