I took science classes here for a year. I like that it is a small campus. I would sometimes study down stairs be the vending machines. There are sofas and charging stations all around the building. Pros - There is only one building. Makes it easier to find your class - library on the 4th floor. - less students, less noise. -awesome view from the 4th floor library. - a walking trail behind the building ( because they do not have a gym) Cons - no cafeteria. They have vending machines - Closed on the weekend, which means you cannot use their library on the weekends. I always thought of community college, as college at trade school prices. If are a practical person and are only going to college for a professional degree (and have no interest in "student life") community college is the way to go.

It was been amazing because some places are exactly the same and I got several new surprises to explore, like the Palomar College RB edition. I was leaving the dentist and while making some time until I could go and get a coffee started driving around and saw a big building in top of a hill and went there. There were not many cars in the parking lot so not sure if students are virtual or they go in buses (I so like a school type of bus circulating around). Everything looked very modern and the surrounding so pretty, with plenty of trees (the a plate telling the names) and very peaceful. The best for me were those views. Very mesmerizing during a cloudy day, I need to go during a sunny one and compare. Very cool spot to observe this wonderful land.

The students are geeky, wacky, nerdy, different, intelligent, unique, confident, and wonderful! My daughter said that she didn't want to go to any other school because she is with "her people" and she is right. Dr. McCurdy said in last year's commencement speech, "If you aren't failing, you aren't learning." What a great place to make mistakes, learn from them, and make improvements. I'm so excited for the students attending SET High because they are learning real-world skills at such an early age in a supportive, caring, and fun environment. As…read morea newbie into healthcare/emergency services etc and without any previous knowledge like anatomy classes etc, I had so much to learn, just listen in lectures and you'll pass and do great. I did the accelerated course for 5 weeks Mon-Thu 8am-5pm. Tips: 1. whether you have general knowledge of the topics covered in an EMT course or not, acknowledge that you are gonna be digesting a lottttt of new information. Get good sleep, take your notes, apply yourself don't just show up to class and expect to pass 2. Create a good set up. I did my sign/symptoms homework over the weekend in addition to the online JBL quizzes. (both graded). This way during the week all I had to worry about was learning new information, being ahead, and studying for the in person quiz and exam. 3. Ask questions, the instructor is a tool that you can use. They are always there to help you and want you to succeed. Super knowledgeable and helpful, just have the courage to ask questions, especially when it's needed. 4. Sign up for your 2 required EMS rides early, if you do them in the second or third week it's better. A lot of the students including myself put dates for the last 2 weeks of the course, however EMS services can only have so many ride alongs.Hence, I just finished the course and am taking my 2nd ride along the week after because it was backed up. Do it early. 5. Make friends in the class and help each other out. We were all able to bond over the topics that were harder to learn etc, it ended up helping a lot. Everyone the first week is obviously nervous but everyone is super nice just put yourself out there. 6. When your class is studying together for the quiz or exam and Spencer is talking, listen CAREFULLY to what he says, if he repeats something or says it slowly, it's for a reason, study it for the quiz/exam. You will be doing yourself the biggest disadvantage if you don't listen to the instructor in class. 7. The skills assessments. You get out what you put in. Skills instructors are there to help teach you and correct you in practice, but be able to make mistakes and learn before skills testing day. 8. Manage your time effectively. Some students understood the information better than others and were able to enjoy themselves more outside of class time, for students like myself, the information was hard to grasp and the extra time outside of class is needed to study more. Expect to be done with class, go home and study what you learned. 9. Quizlet helps a lot, however cross check the information on there with your notes. (the book wasn't really much of help). But Spencer goes over all of the important topics in detail. Quizlet is good for practice but know your definitions and how things work. 10. Not everyone in the class but most were taken as a prerequisite for Fire Service. Super nice to network with everyone on this journey and get more information about the different routes people are on. I believe we started with 60 individuals and ended with 40 passing or so. Overall, the class was not that difficult if you followed these. At a bare minimum, turn everything in on time, keep up in the class or get ahead, LISTEN to the instructor. Great experience. Also the Cargo Cafe coffee shop there is phenomenal. Very convenient. About to take NREMT, super confident and studying pocket prep after the class. Goodluck y'all.

There were two people from the League there, Jed and a student and they walked around and helped kids individually. I was interested in their program, so I approached Jed after class to ask some questions about their classes. I was in the midst of asking a question when he just said "We're not here to sell the program" and walked away from me, then intentionally ignored me while I was standing right in front of him. That didn't make the best impression, but I am glad they are offering these free classes.

They really take you through so many subjects and it is up to you to figure out which subject you want to focus on. Palomar College Cabinet and Furniture Technology is one of the top woodworking schools in the…read morecountry. They offer classes and degrees for everything from wood carving and wood turning to cabinet and furniture making. They also have one of the best Guitar Making Technology certificate programs consisting of 9 classes and 26 units. The facilities and instructors are amazing. I love that each class is project-based, so you end each semester with an heirloom quality piece of woodwork. Palomar College CFT has their own lumber mill, and they partner with the city to turn tree waste into unique and usable lumber. That makes it the only place in the world where you can get specialty woods like Torrey Pine, and it's only available to students in the woodworking classes. The CFT100-Woodworking Fundamentals class is the pre-requisite for most of the other classes. Students usually build a pendulum or mantel clock for that class while learning woodworking basics along the way. I took CFT100 as a beginner and learned a ton, but even seasoned woodworkers have said that class is worth taking and learning the "right" way to do things. I can't say enough good things about the people running this program, from the instructors and teaching assistants to the fellow students, they are a joy to work with and learn from.
