I randomly met Tony when I purchased some music gear from him, and thought I'd give Champion Sound a shot. I was so stoked to discover that the classes offered would be IN PERSON!!! In the class of four, we each were given our own station to use and learn Ableton Push 2's at their site at Zarr Studios. I participated in the 8 lesson month long intensive introduction to Ableton course, as well as a 4 lesson follow up course with Tony. I gotta say...Tony, Andrew and Isaac all worked well together to help make a daunting program a lot more approachable. Their expertise really shone as they were able to explain some pretty technical topics at a level even a beginner could understand. This was easily the best part of my winter of 2021, and I am really grateful for the skills (and amazing new friends) I was able to acquire through this program. The student discounts on Ableton products don't hurt either! Thank you so much Tony, Andrew and Isaac for putting together this sanctuary of music and creativity. Looking forward to seeing you guys around more in the future.

But it's one thing to want to do something, and another thing altogether to actually follow through. I purchased Ableton 10 Live Suite at the behest of my guitar teacher, who is also an experienced producer. I instantly knew I would need a crash course to even know how to begin. So--thank you, Google. I found Champion Sound here in Portland. I wanted something local, so that in the "after times" of Covid I would have local relationships to build on and network with. Tony, the founder and driving force behind Champion, was quick to respond to my inquiry. Never pushy. Helpful from the outset. The course was 32 hours of instruction in one month. It was a TON of material to cover for noobs like me and the others. We asked a million questions, sometimes the same ones twice or three times, and Tony never, ever once, made any of us feel bad or stupid for it. He was helpful, patient, cheerful, freakishly knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about making sure that he delivered on his promise to give us the tools we needed to produce our own music. There were other instructors too, and to a person, each one had those same qualities of patience, passion, and deep expertise. I am so glad I took this course and met Tony!!! I look forward to more classes with Champion down the road. But for now, I'm diving into Ableton headlong, recording and editing tracks. It's kind of like a miracle. Seriously well-spent money.
