This is Texas. South Texas at that. And summer time…read more This gym was apart of my blue cross blue shield fitness plan so I figured I'd slip planet and workout here for a day. Got signed up for an account, super easy. Guy was very friendly and explained everything well. The front room was a little air conditioned? Had some older cardio equipment which was nice. But still rather dated. But it worked, and that's what's important. Walked through to the actual gym, and was at first excited. Then very disappointed. It was that old school iron plate, ivanco dumbbell, smells like grit gym. Then I started to notice how badly maintained the machines are. The ones that had the padding in any sort of operational order were out of order. The ones that you could use, mostly, we're so far beat up I was a bit grossed out and didn't do a lot of the machines that I wanted to. That being said they did have sanitation bottles everywhere for you to wipe down the equipment. So it was clean. They did have two smith machines and a couple power racks, which were in good working order. And all the bars themselves had great knurling and we're pretty nice. So the Texas thing? Why say all that? It's an open air, no ac, and a few poorly placed fans gym. It's uncomfortablely hot. Most everyone smelled okay but honestly it was too hot to get in a good workout. Had the machines been in better condition it might be a little different. But unfortunately with the state of the machines and how hot it was I'm going to cancel my membership, mostly because I wouldn't be utilizing it. If they had the machines re-covered they machines wouldnt be that bad. Friendly. Absolutely. Clean? It was despite the padding on some machines Well maintained and worth coming back? For this reviewer, no.

I was in the area for the holidays while visiting from California and I decided to keep up with my…read moreroutine. For any out of town visitors, make sure to allow yourself some time before class to fill out the necessary paperwork. The first thing I noticed here was that you sign yourself up for either a row or tread to start. I actually really appreciated this because sometimes I really care and sometimes I'd rather just start wherever so long as no one is next to me. After I signed up and filled out my paperwork, I waited in the biggest waiting area I've ever seen at an OTF. In there, there were lockers, showers, restrooms, and benches. I also noticed some really cool canvases that shouted out all members who have hit different benchmarks in terms of number of classes (I wish I had taken a picture). I thought that was a really neat idea that made for both a sense of community and motivation. Upon starting class, I soon realized that this studio was bigger than the ones I'm used to. Not only in terms of size but also the number of equipment and, by extension, people working out. Their 2Gs are more packed than I expected because my studio has a max of 12 rowers (for example) where they had 14 (I believe). Parking, no issue whatsoever. I chuckle at these slight differences because the saying does go ... everything is bigger in Texas. Anyway, I really enjoyed Tavi as an instructor and highly suggest her classes to both visitors and first timers. I'm really surprised this spot doesn't have more reviews, it's truly worth checking out!

The gym is separated to groups and then everyone gets coached up during the workouts. equipment all well maintained and very modern. heart rate monitor let's you see how your current workout is doing. With the technology you can also keep track of lifetime stats and such. the staff is the friendliest staff. I have gone to many orange theory gyms across the country and am yet to find staff as friendly. the coaches are great. I was a former athlete so really fun to be doing class or team style workouts with coach leading us. Unlike some of my high school coaches they are challenging in a fun way. The perfect motivation. First class free!

I messaged crossfit on Facebook and asked if it was okay for me to drop in. They said yes and that the workout started at 10:00. I showed up to stretch and roll out at 9:45 with the impression that I would workout at 10:00. 10:00 rolled around and Jacob let me know that they typically waited a few minutes for people to finish coming in which was fine. It's now 10:20 and we are just now beginning the stretching/warm up/ plyometrics. I'm a little upset because typically by this time we should be warming up for the WOD. We begin warming up for the WOD at 10:30-10:35. We don't start the workout until 10:45. I unfortunately had to leave at 11 (which is the time it was supposed to end) because of a prior engagement so I was only able to complete half of the workout. I was pretty sad because I love working out and was really looking forward to trying this gym. I think this has potential, just needs a little refining.

The coaches, owners, and members made me feel right at home and welcomed me. I am not completely familiar with some of the movements (especially how to do them efficiently), but the coach was right there helping me along. Overall, a great gym with a good positive vibe. If I'm in town again I'll definitely be back.
