I met Kelly in February 2015 through Club La Madison Health and Fitness Center. Let me tell you,…read moreif you are in need of help like I was, go see her. Kelly takes a lot of time to study your eating habits and what your medical issues are of you have any. When I came to her, I had been just diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I was put on meds that made me feel like crap and not myself. I had a talk with my I physical therapist, whose wife put out the monthly gym newsletter. When I found out that she was covered by my insurance for 6 free visits per year, I had to try it and my PT agreed. I went into with no B.S and all the courage I could. To this day I am 76 pounds down and off all my diabetes meds. I have been given a new leash on life with just the change of my eating habits. I have come to love different new veggies and new ways to eat food and enjoy it. I love being called an inspiration by all my friends that I have met through my journey. My journey isn't over, I have a long way to go. It is one fought with strength, love and courage and with the support of my family and friends.

In addition to treating my illness, I had experienced on-going back pain from 30+ years in the military, miles of running, falls, etc. I'm proud to say that I no longer suffer from back pain. I maintain a consistent wellness program with Tim and Melissa, which involves me visiting the center bi-weekly. I highly recommend Suburban for individuals who suffer from chronic pain. I always struggled with my weight and have unsuccessfully tried a lot of fad diets over the years, which gave me a ton of false ideas about losing weight. I worked with Dr. Jurgelewicz a few years ago. When I first became ill, I was so distraught and…read moreoverwhelmed that I had a million questions and fears bombarding my mind. At the time, I didn't quite know the capabilities of functional medicine and was hesitant that I could restore my health. I had spent months using a wheelchair due to joint flares from Rheumatoid arthritis. And I was lethargic and in a debilitating brain fog due to hypothyroidism. All of which showed up in just a few months after taking a course of doxycycline. Dr. J was patient with me and answered my questions thoroughly. He ran some diagnostic tests to learn what exactly was going on with my body as a whole such as intolerances and deficiencies. Why was it that I went from good health to chronically ill in such a short timeframe? He gave me a diet to follow as well as some supplements to take (one being a probiotic that has become a staple in my daily life). He was very reasonably priced compared to other doctors. But most importantly... He gave me the tools to good health. He unraveled the causes of the autoimmune issues I was having. Despite what modern medicine tells us, you really shouldn't put a "bandaid" on chronic diseases. Masking the symptoms may give you temporary relief, but it will just further suppress your immunity and lead to more issues down the road. It takes hard work and long term dedication but it's worth it. Dr. J gave me a new perspective on healthcare and treating disease. I am eternally grateful for his help. Taking back control of your health is very empowering. I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Jurgelewicz.
