Our 7 year-old son loved camp this year! He said he wished he could go all summer. We will definitely be back.

Salads are a miss, tenders are a hit. The pool is amazing! The high dive is fun, but the best part is that every 50 minutes, for 10 minutes, all the children have to leave! The tennis courts are great as well and the instructors are great.

The food here is actually pretty good but the pool has so many rules it's ridiculous. The life…read moreguards seem to be on a power trip and love the opportunity to blow those whistles. Thank goodness we are Richland Country Club members who only have to be here for one month. They are also extremely inconsistent on their absurd rules. My 4 year old is just now getting comfortable jumping off the diving board but likes someone to be floating close by in the deep end to help her swim back to the side after jumping - well the blew on the whistle so aggressively AFTER she jumped in although I had been waiting for her to jump for about 3 minutes that she cried. What else did they think I was doing talking to her with words of encouragement down below ?! They have a beach entry toddler pool that I've never once seen anyone else in where I like to put a pool chair as my child plays. I've done this for about 5 days now and someone just came up to me and said they don't allow furniture in the pool... umm does a crummy plastic pool chair count as "furniture" ? Also, a few days ago it started thundering so they "shut the pool down" for 30 minutes. Well I left our pool bag out on a table not thinking it was completely necessary to pack all the way up and just used it as a break for a snack. Well after the first 30 minutes were up and there was still some distant thunder I decided we should just pack up and go home. So I walked back to the pool to grab our stuff and was again aggressively whistled at. It was embarrassing and angered me. For those of us that are new maybe you should explain that you need to pack up everything you had out by the pool when the guards here some mysterious thinner even though the sky is blue Only giving 2 stars because they have decent food for a less than decent PRIVATE swimming pool

However, I went on a day that coincided with a plant sale and it was absolutely wonderful to take a beautiful hike and then shop at the plant sale after. Every time I come, the staff are very nice and Talkative. They're willing to answer any questions and talk about the owls that have been rehabilitated. The trails are a bit wild and can be a little bit difficult to navigate however, it's wonderful and also feels a little bit more of a wild landscape than other places that you can go hiking. Highly recommend and Make sure you check in at the visitor area so that you can view the map and they can check you in upon arrival.

We went for marshmallow hikes / hot cocoa…read more Pros: Had a very knowledgeable volunteer group Got to learn about the area, the reserve, and animals Inexpensive event ($10pp) Was cool to see the owls at the end of the guided hike Cons: Public restrooms are portapotties Moderate hike didn't really feel like one, and I'm not a hiker. I expected more of a difficulty besides a slight uphill section (the most difficult part was dealing with the mud after a few days of rain) The reserve isn't very pretty at this time of year, but I bet it is in the summer/bloom/fall... basically anything but the deadness of winter. I think I'd market this a little differently, or change it up to make it better (the event specifically, not the nature reserve itself).

The administration communicates well and encourages collaboration with parents. Because of Boost, my daughter has grown and thrived, Can't speak highly enough.

As a special surprise I bought my 8-year-old a week at camp this summer with her cousin. We're not…read moreregular attenders. Backstory: Sunday night she spiked a high fever suddenly so we didn't take her Monday. Bummer. But when her fevers continued to remain above 102 and she had GI issues as well, we were able to get her an appointment at her pediatrician on Wednesday morning. It turned out she had strep and another unidentified virus....which means 24 hrs of antibiotics before she's not contagious. We got a doctors letter verifying she absolutely couldn't attend camp until Friday. All that to say, Boost will absolutely NOT work with you!!! If your child gets sick (which often happens to kids) you are completely out all your money and will have a very sad child. Buyers beware!!! Their policy is completely inflexible - no exceptions!!!! My daughter got to go to camp for 1 day for $350, and that day was just a field trip to see a movie. They had a million excuses why they wouldn't work with us...even when I offered to pack my daughters lunch so she wouldn't partake in camp food and sit out of special guest visits so she wouldn't cost them more money. They said they're always full and couldn't add her in the next week (they actually had 30 spots open). A few quotes from the director when she finally responded by email after I called multiple days in a row. "First, let me say that I am so sorry that you have a sick kiddo and I pray for quick and complete healing." "As a mother of 3, I know how unpredictable and unavoidable illness can definitely be and how when it does rear its ugly head it can be at the most inconvenient times." "Customers are paying to secure their spot in camp similar to buying concert tickets. Unfortunately, there are risks that come with both of those purchases, as there are unexpected events that could possibly occur that sometimes cause us to have to miss out on things we paid for in advance." "We are not in the business of upsetting customers and honestly quite the opposite. Customer service is a priority of mine and I truly do aim to treat all of my customers the way that I love to be treated." Wow!!! Comparing a small town community program to a large venue concert (where people also have the option to resell their tickets if extenuating circumstances occur) doesn't make sense. Suggesting that customer service is a priority but being completely unwilling to work with one family experiencing an unfortunate illness is ridiculous. And offering "thoughts and prayers" and empathy as a fellow mother is demeaning at best when you actually aren't willing to be compassionate. Brynn Crady avoided my calls, offered zero customer service and acted like she could relate. In my 12 years of parenting, I've NEVER experienced a company so money driven with lack of customer care. I WILL NEVER send my child there or recommend this place. The coaches may be nice and the kids may enjoy the camp but the leadership ruined it! If you have $300 to risk, go ahead and sign your kid up and hope you don't experience a situation like I did.

The two times I have come here were for sorority retreats, we only stayed for one day though, I am not sure what the overnight stay is like- but the day retreats for clubs/organizations are AMAZING. Between my days at both, I experienced zip lining, giant swing, paintball, their awesome group bonding games and my personal favorite was swimming at the lake with the cool amenities: giant slide, rope swing, water trampoline, AND a water obstacle tower. My attendee group each time were filled of truly amazing girls- and the campfires we were able to do at night really finished off the day so well and prompted deep talks and would bring us all emotionally closer to another. The food offered was pretty good, they even cater to dietary restrictions. The meals typically were the same both times but I didn't mind. The best part of this place however, is the STAFF!!!! Every employee at Deer Run is so amazing, helpful, polite, and are actually there to ensure a great time. 10/10 will definitely be back!
