My daughter has a few school friends who regularly attend the same classes as her, but I have noticed that she has also become friendly with other children which is especially nice to see in this COVID age. The thing I like most is the flexibility of the classes. I had assumed we would have to come a specific set of days every week, but you can choose which days work best for your child. This is especially helpful for those of us with other children or prior engagements, or simply to allow the child the independence to pick when they'd like to come. My daughter started in mid-March and she got her white belt in April. It is now early May and she's gotten two tips on her belt already. These achievements give my daughter a sense of pride and also motivation to keep doing her best! They also offer summer camp, after school care, and always have something special going on (like bring a friend week, mother's appreciation month right now, and father's month coming up in June). Overall I'm really grateful to have my daughter in this academy and look forward to the years to come.

I can see why this place receives high kudos from their happy clients, as it's an awesome activity for after-school/-work or on the weekends! I've hesitated to post this review but I feel I need to. About two years ago, after my son turned…read more4, we decided to try Andrew Gause on some neighborhood recommendations, thinking it would help him with some coordination and balance issues. We were asked to come a half hour early for our free trial class, so we did. When we got there it was quite crowded and busy with all of the evening classes, but I filled out all the paperwork and talked to Andrew. Andrew didn't really meet my son or talk to him - just me. I didn't realize how long we'd be sitting there so I didn't really bring anything for my son to do, and he didn't have a spot to sit since it was so crowded. He was on the floor, bored, wiggly, and excited. I should have brought something for him to do but I didn't realize he was supposed to sit there waiting for a half hour. He was four. As time went on he got pretty wiggly and started complaining that he wanted to go in, but I told him he had to wait. He wasn't behaving badly - just restless because he was sitting there for so long and kept getting bumped into. Again, he was four years old, and excited. Don't tell parents to bring kids in a half hour before class - it's just setting them up for failure. Finally the students for the class started coming in, and I asked Andrew if we were supposed to go in too. He then loudly stated "based on what I've observed, your son is NOWHERE near mature enough for this" and told us that we should just observe the class. My son was devastated after waiting nearly a half hour for this, other parents were staring at us after Andrew loudly chastised us, so we left. My big regret is that this experience kept us away from Taekwondo for two years - I thought the sport just wasn't the right fit for us. I was wrong. The sport is a fine fit. This studio is not. My son is thriving at a different studio now, is focused and works hard, and is building his confidence and coordination. I am sure Andrew Gause is the right fit for many kids, but I would caution families with particularly energetic or young kids about going here. I don't think anyone who understands young children would expect an excited 4 year old to sit on the floor of a crowded, noisy room for a half hour and be perfectly calm.

We first discovered K2 Powerhouse Tae Kwon Do simply driving down the street. My son was four years…read moreold at the time, and when he saw the sign, he pointed at it and said, "I want to go there. I want to do Tae Kwon Do." As a parent of a child on the Autism Spectrum, I was hesitant. Crowds were difficult for him, and we had already tried everything -- basketball, dance, baseball, swimming -- but nothing truly worked. We weren't just looking for a sport; we were looking for something that could help build his confidence, give him structure, and help him feel like he belonged somewhere. I still remember his first session at K2. I was physically ill with anxiety, terrified that he wouldn't be able to follow the rules or that he would have a meltdown and we would be asked to leave. Instead, Master Mike confidently welcomed him into class without hesitation, and what I witnessed that day amazed me. My son adapted. More importantly, he wanted to be there. The instructors and staff made him feel included, capable, and accepted from the very beginning. Now, almost six years later, my son is a green belt and actively involved in K2 through classes, Parents' Night Out, summer camps, and soon their new self-defense class for kids. Master Mike, June, Grand Master Habib, Carolina, Master Brandon, and so many others have become an extension of our family. They have helped us raise our son with patience, encouragement, discipline, and genuine care. Every single day, they meet him where he is while continuing to help him grow into a more confident and capable young boy. We are beyond thankful for K2. If you are looking for a dojo -- or simply a place where your child can build confidence, discipline, friendships, and a sense of belonging -- this is the place to go. I cannot recommend them enough.

I love the instructors - they are patient and kind but require that things be done the right way; all while making it really fun, especially for the younger kids. I also love the values and disciple that tae kwon do encourages. Plus, it's a fun way to get to get exercise and safely hit things which all kids love. But more then that, it teaches "might for right" so that it's ok to hit a target but not your brother. ;o) My boys have actually used the confidence they have developed from Jhoon Rhee to stand up to bullies and I feel better knowing that they spend time learning "stranger danger" and how to deal with a bad guy. It may seem like a lot of money on an annual basis but I think the investment is worth the results. Especially if you break down the expense per class, it is a very reasonable cost. I highly recommend Jhoon Rhee Tae Kwon Do! I am trying to write this review again since Yelp has filtered my previous review. I am personally upset by this as clearly I am a real and legitimate person with a real and positive opinion about this fine business. Please always review Yelp's filtered reviews since that seems to be where the best ones are to be found.

Our experience went bad with the after school care program. Initially, there was awkwardness when I was called due to our child not being at school to catch the after school bus. I understand a phone call to make sure everything is okay, although that had already been done at the school. The awkwardness is the repeating of how it was an inconvenience for the Elite MA staff even after repeated apologies. It was as though they were waiting for even more apologies. This happened another time we retrieved our child from school. As it turns out, there was a reason our child was getting ill toward the end of the day. We found out about an issue on the bus with assigned seating with a well established student ultimately threatening to break our child's glasses. The resolution by Elite MA was a call to us blaming our child for initiating the ongoing bullying (laughable if you knew our child who goes out of her way to play with those who have no playmates), but that the bully was 'really, really sorry.' When I repeated that this girl threatened our child, I got the ultimate brush off, 'ummm'. We only used their after school services for one month. I expect more morality out of a martial arts studio. After several high pressure sales attempts tied to long contracts, we will not be going back. Response: They only reached out after reading this review, and in doing so were only asking for identifying information. This is something that I tried to resolve within the business and was handled poorly as described above. Unless they have a consistent problem with bullying that they typically blame on the victim, there would have been no reason to make contact only to elicit information. There was no attempt to resolve the issue. As stated above, the primary problem is with the perceived demand of apology from the caller, not the call itself. The contracts are fair, and very high pressure, as is the sale of the many other hidden costs involved. Not expensive independently, but are frequent.
