Top notch muay thai instruction from former pro fighter Mark DeLuca. Mark is very knowledgeable and patient with new students, but pushes you as hard as you need to be pushed. Joe, the owner and head bjj coach, is very welcoming and laid back. He explains the policies and lays everything out with no sales pitch. Make no mistake, this is a gym that trains fighters, not a mcdojo. However they were pretty welcoming to this out of shape middle age dude, got me started right in fundamentals, and I'm glad to have found them.

As instructors you are to ensure the safety of children that are in your care. You failed to do that as mentioned, I saw no activity from the instructors when my son was choking. This happened repeatedly and you should be ashamed of yourselves for calling yourself an instructor. At the start of class, your main concern was to get your liability form signed so you can negligently not take care of those who signed their rights over within your martial school. Animal control should be called for your aggressive dogs that you have open to the public. As you clearly said, "don't get too close" that enough tells you they're not safe to be around the public. The schedule you mentioned is only good for your school as you can maximize profits and not have to entertain different scheduling. So what if I pay the same price for my son attending your school half the time? Right? It's all about money first. My son was not safe and I would never ever not for 1 million years, bring my son back to your school. Your school should be closed to negligence. Parents please be aware and watch these instructors very carefully as I believe their actions speak for themselves. See if they are engaged or they hang out my the clock and focus on a countdown timer. As far as instructions, and from AI, from a child psychologist's view, young kids thrive on clear, consistent guidance but don't always need constant hand-holding. In martial arts, they might need frequent reminders early on to master steps or focus, especially if they're under ten. Structured repetition builds muscle memory, so gentle cues help without overwhelming them. As they grow confidence, ease up to encourage independence. I guess the instructors Ego's are more important than what's good for young children.

The setup of the gym is also nice, and I really like the variety of bags available. Having different types of bags to train on is a big plus, especially if you're serious about MMA, boxing, or Muay Thai. That being said, there are definitely some areas that need improvement. The weight room section is where I'd have to knock some stars off. Equipment maintenance appears to be a recurring issue. When something breaks, it takes an extended period to get it fixed or even to initiate a work order from what it seems like since I been there or it stays "Out of Order." but for example, since I've been a member, I haven't seen any work done on the sauna that's advertised but has been out of order the entire time as well as a couple of other exercise machines. The cardio machines also feel like they're on their last leg, some of them are clearly worn down. A number of the machines could use updating, and the overall upkeep of the gym (including things like visible holes, wear and tear on the walls) could be better. I'd rate the general maintenance and upkeep around a 4.5/10. On the positive side, I'm still able to get all my workouts in, and the pricing is pretty reasonable for what you get i guess for the building space that it is. I just really have to adjust my workouts. With better maintenance and some updates, this gym could easily be top-tier. Overall: Decent gym with strong classes and training options, but it definitely needs improvements in maintenance and equipment upkeep. Honestly, I can't recommend this gym because of the ongoing issues with upkeep and maintenance.

But Capital MMA was the complete opposite. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and comfortable. The instructors are fantastic with kids: respectful, engaging, and age-appropriate. They strike the perfect balance between fun and structure--allowing room for mistakes and typical kid behaviors while still keeping everyone focused. Pricing is very reasonable, and they offer a free one-month trial before any commitment. Plus, they honor a military discount, which we really appreciate. Our kids are excited for every class, and we feel great about the investment of time and money. Highly recommend for any parents looking for a positive, disciplined, and inclusive martial arts environment!

He literally kicks my ass each session and I'm usually drenched in sweet when I'm done, which is the exact level I need. The members of the gym all seem super cool and chill; I usually am not a fan of CrossFit or MMA gym goers because they have that, "I'm so awesome" attitude and I'm so over chics that go to the gym looking like they are getting ready to hit the club just wanting attention, taking up space and taking countless pics of themselves... absolutely none of that here! I really like the facility and the owner/manager is great. ZERO complaints!

It's a small world, and my good friend is the office manager and I got to meet up with THE Master Kim who I remembered would bring students over from Korea for a bit of a cultural Korean-US student exchange during summers past. Master Kim is legit, awesome, caring, really patient, and has a kind heart. I'm a former student from 15 years ago who will be going back to TKD-- finally-- because I've found an instructor and a school that I know teaches based on WTF standards. Dont't think that just because Master Kim doesn't have the title of a Grandmaster that he's any less qualified-- he has to have students who open their own schools to get that title here in the US, but he is considered one in Korea and is also going back in the Spring to test for his 7th Dan. I highly recommend this school if you would like to be taught TKD the correct way that will be recognized as a national Korean standard that can be taken with you no matter where you go.
