It was especially great for us that it was covered seating, as it was raining all day. We started with some bruschetta. It was forgettable bread but the tomatoes and oil were both pretty good - not amazing. We eat got a pizza, and both fell in love. We went here on recommendation that it was the best pizza in italy (including Naples) and we concur (only thing better is chicago deep dish). The crust was thin and the edges had a nice crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. It was flavored nicely and had a good variety. My only complaint would be that toppings weren't distributed evenly. There was a huge one piece of artichoke that comprised a full bite. We also opted for more traditional Balogna dishes: the tortellini en brodo, which was not bad. Soup was seasoned ok, not too salty or too bland. The tortellini itself was simple, with some meat and cheese. Seems like a nice comfort food for those who grow up with it. The tagliatelle al ragú was seasoned well too, although the actual pasta was not as bouncy as others I've had. Not bad though. However at the end we thought we had ordered panna cotta and for some reason it never came. The waiter later seemed confused even though he previously repeated "dessert panna cotta"... so I don't know. But we decided to go without the dessert.... Unfortunately. They didn't have any tables outside so we were seated inside. Service (3.5/5): No WiFi unfortunately which isn't great for an international traveler like me. Standard European service. Not terribly friendly and not terribly efficient but I would say they were a bit more attentive than the norm. They did hook us up with some complimentary limoncello shots which was a really nice touch. Ambiance (3.5/5): A little quieter since it's off the beaten path which I like. A pleasant, homey restaurant. Drinks (4.5/5): We shared a bottle of wine. And the aforementioned limoncello shots. Food (4/5): We went with their pasta for two deal where each person gets three different types of pasta that you choose from six or so options. I love getting a variety of dishes so this was a nice way to do it. Not huge portions given the price but still delicious. The dishes were served to us quickly and we got to try some pastas we had never heard of. Overall: When in Bologna, Osteria Broccaindosso makes for a fine choice. This is truly a family owned restuarant. The father is the chef, the two eldest sons service the dining area, the youngest son stokes the stone pizza oven and the mother oversees the till. What to expect: The main dining area is open and seats approximately 50 and the enclosed patio can seat another 20. The decor is simple but tasteful. The menu is varied and includes a variety of antipasti, zuppa & insalate, pasta, secondi, pizza and dolci options to choose from. Pesce options abound on the main dish menu. The wine list is robust with a regional focus. Service is gracious but you can expect a full dining experience to run 2-3 hours in the true Italian tradition. Everything on the menu is a delight and my personal favorites include the pizza di mare and balsamic steak options which are nearly impossible to find in the U.S. In a nutshell, great food served in a low key atmospherse at very reasonable prices offered up by some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

It was tasty, but not remotely worth the wait. Someone knocked over a glass, which broke on the floor. No one cleaned it up for 15 minutes. For reasons unknown, you have to take your bill to the front of the restaurant. Their credit card machine was conveniently "broken," so we had to pay in cash. I don't care how good your food is.
