I stopped in after looking at the Galleria D'Italia, a space with free exhibits owned by Banca d'Intesa. This caffe has a warm wood interior. You may order at your table any of the food or drinks and the waitstaff will bring it to you. I spent a countless number of times at de Canto because I had just window-shopped along the Via Montenapoleone or had visited Rizzoli in the Galleria nearby or just wanted an oasis of quiet in this mad, chaotic city that was away from the crowds. There is no copperto so you don't pay extra to sit or stand. It's copperto free! I enjoyed having a cup of tea in each visit. If you order a coffee, you get a small piece of Venchi chocolate - a nice treat! Tired from shopping, from visiting the Duomo, from your crazy co-workers or sweetheart who has been nagging you all day, stop by de Canto. You will leave refreshed and feeling very zen.

We stopped Bjork around 2:30pm after a long train ride from Riomaggiore. The kitchen was not open at the time, but they had some freshly prepared open sandwiches. They looked like Swedish sushi - beautiful presentation. The staff was very friendly and spoke good English. The store looks like it was cut out of a Scandinavian furniture magazine - very well appointed.

Whilst wandering down via Brera I stumbled upon a vision that said 'Bulmers & Guinness' inside. I had been spitting feathers for the best part of an hour so thought it prudent to top up my booze tank and quaff a couple of jars, the first of which disappeared faster than an ice chip on a BBQ. As small as O'Connell's is, it packs in ambiance and their buffet is loaded to the gunnels with some fine eats. It pays respect to its location by only serving the finest involtini, crudo & insalata along with penne, ravioli & risotto dishes. I also had some San Pellegrino- Italy is known for this sparkling water I really enjoyed the pasta, it had the right amount of assessed yet perfect amount of tanginess from the zucchini and the freshly sautéed shrimp. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has some time like 20 to 40 minutes to eat at the airport. If you're in a serious rush, go to a quick place to grab a sandwich or salad! Great food. Downside? A little bit of slow service, and the credit card machine is one that they make you stand out after you eat dinner, but other than that, 10/10!

The challenge is that most nice restaurants do not start serving until 7:00 PM and the opera starts at 8:00 PM. The few who specialize in opera dinners are pricey and we're booked out. This was a great find. It is a 10 min walk from La Scala and offered a fantastic diner, great service, and nice ambiance. There are really two parts to the restaurant, one offers street service and is located to the front, and the other is more formal and is down stairs. We were lucky enough to find a place downstairs. I would suggest asking for this. There are also two menus, one short menu, and a second full menu with starts at 7:00 PM (too late for the opera). The short menu was great. We charged and appetizer and two mains (one risotto and a roasted veal cutlet). Both were fantastic! The restaurant did a cocktail pairing (their creation) with dinner which we enjoyed as well. The service was excellent, maybe because we were so early. I would love to go back just for the full dinner on an occasion without the need to go early, in time for the opera. I loved this place and would highly recommend it.
