In Nordic countries we are used to massive butchers with lots of different meat. It is very rare…read morethat any butcher will sell less than 5-10 meats, but that is the case with Porta Grande - a mixed butcher and steakhouse. Do not think any odd steakhouse. Instead, what you will get is a classic Italian experience with meat grilled to perfection. I haven't tried their restaurant, but I can safely say that their butcher is amazing. This isn't any high tech butcher, but a classic Italian butcher selling different meat by weight. They sell some simple cuts of pig, beef, chicken and lamb - but also buffalo and wild boar. To very friendly prices - especially compared to what wild boar will cost in my home country of Denmark. If available, which is VERY rare - highly unlikely - these cuts will sell for an extreme price. Service here was very Italian. Not fast and we had to wait a bit for any to come. This is Italy and part of the charm. Going to butcher here is just a much more unique experience. You can very likely get meat cheaper around, but the quality here is outstanding. It really is. Remember that their prices are still extremely cheap compared to butchers in the Nordic countries, in the UK and so on. This review is only for the butcher, but they safely receive 5 beautiful stars. I haven't had such a good piece of beef for a long time. Actually this ranks as one of the best steak experiences ever. Meaty, tender and fatty. Just how a piece of beef should be.
