This is a review where I'm going to mainly let the pictures do the work. Why? Because sometimes the overall experience is so lovely you don't get hung up on the details. Don't get me wrong: the details matter, which is why this place punches in a heavy weight class. Also, yeah, my precision is off due to the later than normal review. That said, this was another solid find courtesy of the "Infatuation," and I had to see how it stacked up to the Tagine in Beverly Hills. Plus, it was a short walk from the hotel. Say less.
Cuisine: 5/5. Merguez grilles et salads macrocaine. Couscous boulettes de boeuf. I hope I have that right. It is what it is. What's important is the food is - wait for it - wait for it - oh yeah, superb. Beautifully bold, sumptuously savory, and hit all the right notes.
Beverages: 5/5. Aperitif (the tropical looking drink). Digestif (gold drink). What are they? Who cares. Ask the waiter if you have questions or if you would like suggestions and enjoy the experience, damn it. I typically go for whiskey/scotch for the digestif, if that helps.
Service: 5/5. I love when all of my dining experiences in Paris consist of excellent service, that way I can check Americans who resort to imbecilic stereotypes about Paris (despite never having travelled here). In one word: superb. Warm, friendly, and top notch. I'd also say to my fellow Americans: leave any symptoms of American Exceptionalism back home on the other side of the pond - AND take a few seconds to make a reservation. I believe I made my reservation online.
Ambiance: 5/5. I felt like I was at someone's dinner party, which is to say I felt comfortable and welcome. The staff. My dinning neighbors. All of it. I'll definitely stop in again the next time I'm in town.
Buen provecho. read more
