(Last visited 7/13/2021.) Hanging out in the area and it's dinnertime so we do our Yelp…read moredue-diligence and find this place... Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right inside the mall is this very modern-looking, well laid-out restaurant. It gave me "restaurant chain" vibes, but I'm unfamiliar with this company to know if they're actually a chain or not. So I was a bit confused with how things worked regarding ordering, but we figured it out. So there's a big digital menu board straight ahead where you actually order your food before you sit down. This place has so much seating and even some outside for the warmer months! Service: So there isn't exactly table service here because you order your food before you sit down then it gets brought out to you. The gentlemen who took care of us at the host's stand was running the entire restaurant by himself along with one other person then there was someone cooking the food in the back. Dude was BUSY, but he did make time to help us non-French speaking people out and spent some more time with us just chatting even after our dinner was over. However, we did here some pretty severe yelling in the kitchen between 2 people and it could be heard CLEARLY in the restaurant. It made us VERY uncomfortable. One, that kind of discipline shouldn't be used with other employees and two, if you do default to that type of communication, then the restaurant should not be able to hear it. At all. Food: This was another letdown for me. So in the center of Bordeaux there is a restaurant called L'Entrecôte that serves steak and fries, just like this place. That's what I was expecting when dining here, but it isn't what I got. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium-rare like I always do. This steak came out beyond rare. It was in the "blue" category. So I sent it back to be cooked longer and then it came out okay. Still, the steak was a bit chewy, lacked a bit of flavor, lacked seasoning and just wasn't what I was expecting. Value: So, I got the ultimate sort of combo thing where you get a glass of wine, the La Tres Grande, fries, the big steak and a dessert. It was 39.90€. Not bad. I was super full and incredibly satisfied. In conclusion, this place was okay. It wasn't my favorite meal in France, but I can see why people would come here for a good meal.

They'll cook your beef exactly the way you ask it. For beef lovers: note that "Bleu" (blue) in French means "less cooked than rare". They use only local, high quality meat. Everything is great from the steak through the deserts. Highly recommended if you need a quick beef fix before or after shopping! Outdoor seating available. Credit cards OK including AMEX.

The restaurantuer was very happy to use his tiny English and we used our tiny french to understand each other as best we could. We made it work. The scene is extremely rustic and homey. The food is apparently traditional farm-style french food. We were served oodles of cold appetizers: -fresh sliced tomatoes with pesto sauce -carrot salad -pate -radishes and homemade herb butter (he seemed to be indicating that they went together, but I may have misunderstood) -hardboiled eggs and homemade mayonnaise -fresh bread -fish salad -cured meat It seemed to go on and on. We'd snacked beforehand since our reservation was at 8, so I began to worry how I'd find room for the hot and cheese courses! I managed somehow... The hot course was stewed duck in a cream sauce with boiled potatoes on the side. This was the course that impressed me the least, but was comforting and simple. The cheese course displayed various cheeses, a flan, rice pudding, and stewed pears and prunes that were delicious. Fresh fruit and a hot chocolate cake rounded it out. We thoroughly enjoyed it, but again, if you're not up for having someone else take the wheel, this might unnerve you. I also felt a little internal pressure to eat everything and say I liked it, even if it wasn't my favorite, just as I'd do at Grandma's house. Worth a try and very memorable and authentic.

We spoke little French but felt at home and everyone was friendly and happy to explain/help as needed. We called ahead and sat down right when it opened. Seats filled up within the first 30 mins-1hr.
