We had the option to taste for free the wines of the day, but instead we chose to pay 6.50 euro to purchase your glass and seven tastes. They put a microchip on your glass and the wine spouts auto pour so you get to choose which wines to sample (from roughly 60 wines total) at your own pace. Well worth it. Afterwards you can try the wine. I forget what exactly the name was of the wine I tried, but it was sparkling and I liked it a lot. I'm not big on drinking wine but I'd drink tons of what I sampled after the guided tour through the wine cellars. They also have tons of weird French goodies and touristy crap you can buy in the store after, along with the wines they make. Like those weird meat spreads and shit, I dunno. And like wine and sugar and agar agar mixed together. I bought a little jar of that shit. Wine jelly? Idk. I'm Filipino so agar agar is something familiar to me. Of course I had to buy that in this foreign land of cheese and shit. I'm a wine plebeian, sorry. But this place was chill as fuck to me. One was Moët & Chandon which was really awesome being the maker of Dom Pérignon, the other was a smaller house that was more experimental using oak barrels to give a wonderful flavor. Lunch was a tasting with food paring, 3 different types of champaign made with the 3 types of grapes: Pinot Noir (a red variety) Pinot Meunier (a red variety related to Pinot Noir) Chardonnay (a white variety) This helped in identifying the varietals that we would look for when buying champaign the store. Our guide told us in how to decipher the labels on the bottle. We also got to stop by the church were the monk Dom Pérignon discovered champaign. Only the columns are left but his grave and his spirt are there and makes you feel all bubbly inside. I would recommend this tour group for this region, plus the van was really comfortable.

We said something to the waiter and we asked if we wanted it to be cooked some more. No thx - additional cooking would make it even more leathery. Fries looked like they were cut in half, then in half, then again. Really why serve a bunch of broken potato pieces. The waiter praised the house wine, and pushed it hard but honestly it was not very good. Maybe "buvable'. A bit sour, no complexity. But heck it pairs with the steak.
