Clos de Paulilles was strongly recommended by a server we talked to in a restaurant at the nearby city of Collioure.
He told us that not only the drive along the coast was beautiful but the place we were going to was gorgeous.
That place has it all. Amazing views from the restaurant, great Catalan food (ask for the specials. Often meats grilled on the bbq) and also terrific wines. As we learned when went there, Clos de Paulilles is a winery. They produce some of the famous wines of the region Collioure and Banyuls. So there's a tasting room when you can sample and buy their wines.
Their restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. We went in September so we had no problem finding a table but we were told that during the summer the place gets pretty busy so try to get there early.
The place is surrounded by hiking trails so you can walk along the coast and next to the vineyards before (to open your appetite) or After (to digest all the good food and wine!) visiting the place :)
Last but not least, my soon to be wife and i have been looking for a place to get married. We live in Florida, we looked there but couldn't find the perfect nature/good food/good wine combo without spending a fortune. we found it at Clos de Paulilles. They can accommodate weddings, they have a restaurant to feed you, delicious wines and again that view....
If you're in the area this place is a MUST!
