I had never been to Punjab's but as my brother and I won a meal for 2 thanks to a local radio show, we decided to give it a try last evening.
We were greeted as soon as we arrived and seated. The owner (well, I assume he is as he seemed to be the one in charge) took care of our order and made recommendations. To my knowledge, there are not many Indian restaurants in Perpignan (they have a sister location in Canet plage though) so he is probably used to explaining the menu often.
He gave us a selection of starters including a cheese nan, onion bhajis, pakoras and tandoori chicken. Everything was delicious but the onion bhajis looked more like their American counterpart the onion rings!
Then followed pilau rice with cashew nuts and sultanas, aubergine curry and chicken korma. The portions were not huge but then, we we not paying customers so it might not be representative of the regular portion size. We really enjoyed our dishes but the korma did not taste like a korma to us.
The desserts were really tasty as well and were a perfect treat to end the meal. It is worth noting that they offer more dessert choices than other Indian restaurants I have been to in the UK or elsewhere, I guess this is to cater to French customs (always end a meal with a dessert!)
I would return to Punjab with no hesitation, kind service, great food... And they do takeaways! read more
