A nice French customer who had spent 12 years in England helped me communicate what I wanted to the guys behind the counter. Either how we pronounce 'merguez' in the States is not how you pronounce it in French or I've just been pronouncing it wrong my whole life. Whichever it was, it was amusing to everyone involved.
Worth it, however, because the smoky grilled bread and juicy sausage was exactly what I needed after a trip full of cheesy creamy French food (delicious, but not sustainable for too many days in a row!). For €4 I got a handful of skinny little sausages surrounded by veggies and slightly spicy sauce, and this filled me up for dinner. read more
