Unpretentious Japanese food in downtown Toulouse. There are several Japanese restaurants on the…read moreblock and I definitely wouldn't say this is my favorite, but we had a nice meal here. I was able to get a reservation same-day on a Saturday night, and they held the table for me when I called to say that we would be late due to traffic. My husband had gyoza, chicken yakitori, a California roll and some sushi. I had one of the combos, with a miso soup, cabbage salad and scallop tepanyaki (stirfry) with rice. The cabbage salad was delicious with freshly toasted sesame seeds. My scallops were perfectly cooked, moist and sweet. The accompanying veggies were a little too soy-sauce-salty but were mostly good (mushrooms, zucchini, etc.)

Probably the best Japanese restaurant of Toulouse. AUTHENTIC! You will feel like you are in Japan…read morein there. The chef cooks almost in front of the 8 people that are able to have a table in the tiny restaurant (make a RES or you will never have a spot). BTW, this place is only open on weekdays at lunch. The food is amazing and so fresh (makis, potato salad, Japanese salad...). The cheesecake was a bit dry, I'd skip it you can find better in a tea salon nearby. There was another interesting dessert kind of like flan with fruits, it was tasty. I can't give it 5 stars because the place is so small, you have to move constantly to let the waitress go past your table and then back when she goes back in the open kitchen. Also, I went with 3 girlfriends, we were excited to see each other and talked a bit loud just greeting each other and we got SHUSHED by customers because basically you have to almost whisper in there. That wasn't too cool. Anyway, I definitely recommend this unique restaurant - centrally located!

After I ordered it took like 45 minutes to get my tempura. Meanwhile my man ate his appetizer, and entire meal before with a guilty face before I even got my food. He had some teriyaki salmon appetizer that I tried and it was really good. That salmon was better than the one I got in the tempura. I liked the place and the waitress was friendly, the food was good. But, the timing was so awkward. I know dinners in France take longer than in the US but by the time I got my food I was beyond Hangry. I could've gone in there and made my own damn tempura 4 times, at that point.
