And if the friendliness and openness of the staff is any indication I wouldn't be surprised if rum drinkers weren't the happiest spirit drinkers in the world. Seriously, you know how afficionados can be super snobs, especially when you have no clue what their talking about? Well at A Rhûm, the attitude is as warm, soothing and inviting as the spirits being served.
When we walked in we were a bit overwhelmed with the endless options at first. It was a Saturday evening and the place was packed. Just as we were about to turn around and head out someone from the far corner of the boutique called to us and asked what we'd like to try. We told him we were looking for a disgetive at around 30E, and he poured us four different types at the little tasting station they have set up in the shop. His first choice, a Botran Reserve, was right on the money and at the right price.
To say it's been a hit at our place is an understatement. Everyone who tastes it oohs and ahhs and can't believe how smooth and subtle the spirit is, not at all sweet and cloying as you would expect. No surprise that we're making a trip to A Rhum this weekend to replenish!
