My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to get the last table here at 8:30 pm on a Friday evening -- if you are set on coming here, make a reservation in advance because this place is popular!
It's a small restaurant, and best for parties of 2 or 4, since there is room only for about 30 people in the place. It looks like it's run by a husband and wife team, which is nice - the husband does all the cooking solo, and the wife does the rest.
We both got different things for our prix-fixe (€30 per person), but if you don't want to do the prix fixe (there are usually 2-3 choices for the entree and plat du jour and dessert), you can do the a la carte option.
Entree:
- Profiterole de foie gras - These profiteroles topped with cooked red onions, with seared foie gras on top was one of my favorite appetizers I've had here in Toulouse. I love a good seared foie gras (I don't care for cold foie gras), and this was amazing. I would have been happy just coming here and ordering just this.
- Escargots - My boyfriend got the escargots -- I'm not normally a huge fan of escargots, but these were cooked well and the garlicky oil sauce was great for dipping bread.
Plats:
- Poisson / Fish - The white fish was fresh and cooked nicely, the vegetables were also nice and fresh.
- Poulet / Chicken - The chicken was good, with a truffle cream sauce - it was very rich and the vegetables also seemed a bit heavy, like it was cooked in a lot of butter. It was a good dish but just a bit rich for my taste.
Desserts:
- Pear Crepes - My boyfriend got the pear crepes and these were great, served with some ice cream.
- Tartlette de chocolat noir - I normally love all desserts, especially ones with chocolate, but I found this to be a little bit dry for my taste. The chocolate sauce with the orange sorbet was good, but I didn't really like the tart itself.
Overall, a good value for €30 per person for the 3-course prix fixe and I would definitely come back here again. I would definitely get the profiteroles with foie gras if it's on the menu! The only downside is that the meal is not super fast because there's only one person cooking, but I was impressed at how well he was able to cook everything by himself, for the entire restaurant. read more
