A fine hotel in the heart of Alsace!…read more I stayed at Le Colombier for 3 nights in the summer. The hotel is extremely charming with a courtyard and a winding staircase. The hotels rooms are all different. I initially was frustrated that I had to move rooms during my stay. However, I ended up moving from what I thought was the most pleasant room ever to an even more pleasant room! I started in a traditional room which was warm and inviting, with hardwood floors, comfortable beds and a great bathroom. Then next night, I moved to the top floor in a suite. This room had a sitting area, huge sleeping area, massive bathroom and a charming beamed ceiling. This room had a great view of the city. The hotel staff moved my belongings between rooms - I almost didn't notice that I had to pack twice. I ate breakfast each day in the hotel and it is not to be missed. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared. Coffee, tea, eggs, toasts, cheese, meats. The hotel staff was very friendly - trying to help me find restaurants and spots to visit. They booked taxis as well. When my phone didn't work, the front desk person acted as intermediary between me and my mother. It was a nice touch. All in all, if I visit Colmar again, I will definitely stay at Le Colombier. The hotel is pricey, but worth it for the comfort and convenience. Oh - and the air conditioning works great!!!

It s a typical and traditional German Black Forest style and design (Schwarzwald in German, it s the mountain. A lots of wood, old furniture from the area, but nicely arranged, it s not heavy. It a all in one, restaurant & bar, hotel and spa (see the pictures). The spa is brand new with a fitness room, sauna, swimming pool, jacuzzi, in spa bar... The food was very good, fine and tasty, like the fois gras soup with chanterelle mushroom and pork meat. The service was nice we were very well looked after. There is a nice ambiance around the bar. The building can be seen from far away as you drive to it, as it is on a hill overlooking the town. It is quite grand. It and its grounds are a sight: the tall tower, incredible architecture, surrounding vineyards, animals on the property, a stork nest on the top of the tower, and very nice decor are all extremely pleasant. The room was very comfortable and, of course, had an amazing view. Parking is easy. The hot tub in the spa is amazing - the best view I have ever had from a hot tub. The hamam, sauna, and pool are nicely maintained. 100% worth stopping to relax during your trip. The service is very friendly, attentive, and helpful. We appreciated the friendliness of the front desk staff. Our only critique is that the bar is never staffed. We waited a while hoping someone would come by so we could order a drink before we finally gave up and left. The view is just so amazing - it would have been really nice to enjoy a cocktail. We absolutely loved our stay here and could not recommend this hotel highly enough.

I would have given it 5 stars but the bathrooms are small and for what you pay I expect a bit more in the room. Having stayed in some nice old hotels before it was missing the grandeur that I have experienced in other small hotels for the same price and the value for money was lacking. The location is amazing and this place is surrounded by vineyards and they have free bikes you can use. There are a number of wineries in the area however most of the good ones are located before Colmar so cycling to some of those might take you some time. They also have an ok tennis court and they have rackets and balls you can borrow if you wanted to play. There a two pools one indoor and one outdoor and both are quite small. It is located up on a hill so you get a great view of Rouffach from up here and it is quite a peaceful location. I would happily come back here again and with a few more touches this place could well be a 5 stars for me.
