Chicken Shawarma
Nikki M.

I have never been too big of a fan of shawarma, but this is pretty darn good! Their options are fairly customizable: You can opt to get more potatoes than rice (both of which are very good, but the potatoes are a fav!), which is really nice. You can also get the garlic sauce on the side and choose to get hummus or not. They also ask you if you'd like to have all the toppings on the salad (tomatoes, red onions, pickles, red cabbage). Overall, food is really good! Again - coming from someone who doesn't really enjoy shawarma too much, I have to admit it was delicious. They piled the chicken shawarma on my plate that I shared with my boyfriend, which was a plus. Even though we got only one plate/portion of food, they still gave us two pieces of bread/pita. Service is amazing! They're very patient with you when you have no idea what to get and they clean empty tables very regularly. If you're eating in, you have to order and pay first, but when you're done, you just leave the dirty plates on the table. Tip: The portions are huuuuge. I recommend sharing a plate!

Falafel Platter
Steven L.

Visiting Ottawa, I chose to stay over in nearby Gatineau, partly to practice speaking a little French in this Francophone city. Knowing how good Lebanese food is in Montreal, I couldn't pass up this spot just minutes from my hotel. I'm glad I stopped by here. The falafel plate was huge and very filling. The staff was very helpful with their recommendations and prepare everything well. If I stayed in Ottawa longer, I would've ate here again and ordered the mixed beef and chicken shawarma.

Probably the best libanese food I had in Gatineau. And friendly people. Fast service and you can tell they get constant traffic.

We love Lebanese food as one of our best friends is from Lebanon and opened our eyes. It was sketchy walking in, it looked closed and the parking lot was empty other than 2 other cars. But, upon opening the door and making our way to the dining area it was much better. Clearly this used to be a BIG operation back in the day, but now looks like it is mostly for take out or quick meals. The dining area and kitchen were all bright and clean. The man behind the counter was very friendly and was happy to sell us a couple of falafel on the side. He custom makes each wrap and plate for the guest which is great. You can see the meat on the spits as well as all of the fresh veg and sauces. He takes his time to build it just right for us which was really nice. Good menu options, I would have liked to try more. We really enjoyed our mixed wrap. He was kind enough to put the hot sauce on one half and not the other. Both were great. The falafel was quite dry, and the sauce didn't really help much. Good flavor. Overall it is a solid option, I'd get it again in a pinch, but the meats and falafel were quite dry. Service was great, everything was fresh and it was a great stop for us.

Based on other reviews, especially Keith T.'s, I ordered the half grilled boneless chicken plate with Bokhari rice. The plate also comes with turnips, salad, hummus, and garlic. I decided to upgrade the salad to a fattoush salad, get an additional 2oz hummus and garlic sauce (I didn't know how big/small the ones would be that came with the platter), as well as 2oz of Ali's Hot Sauce and an additional Kabab Halabi skewer. The chicken was cooked perfectly, great char but still super moist. the hot sauce was very spicy. The fresh herbs and vegetables on the side were such a great pairing. The fattoush was good, especially with the extra crispy pita chips on top. I do wish, however, that plain rice was an option, as I actually didn't need flavoured rice and would've preferred plain. My husband ordered a chicken taouk wrap with garlic, lettuce, onion, and tomato, plus batata hara and a Coke Zero. I've never had fateh before and also wanted to try it because of Hadia G.'s review. I got a single order. It had freshly cooked chickpeas with a mix of yogurt and tahini on a bead of pita chips and topped with pine nuts. This was by far my favourite and I could eat it ALL DAY. My husband and I were obsessed. OBSESSED! It was warm and delicious, creamy but not super rich, and very flavourful rather than just salty. I swear it should be illegal to eat this many pita chips, but we just couldn't stop. This is a bold statement, but I think it's one of the top vegetarian dishes I've ever had. It's on the breakfast menu but is available all day. I got knafeh for dessert, also for the first time. It was nice and cheesy, and I expected it to be sweet, but maybe just a little too sweet for me. Since this was my first time trying fateh, I can't compare it to anywhere else, but I would absolutely order it again and again!
