Copieux, tres bon et prix abordables. Et le couscous maison servi le jeudi et le vendredi est tres populaire.

This time we tried a new restaurant, la QG, which recently opened on the place de la Marie. It was a pleasant surprise with the trendy industrial look mixed with a touch of what i would call grandma chic type couches and seats. The menu has a nice variety and a long lost of cocktails. I had the goat cheese salad which was nice and large. Most of the table had the ba bar burger-looked mighty fine- and a few ordered the various daily specials. Because it was noon I had a cocktail, the Mango margarita. It says for two, which it is but I had it all for me... And sure glad I did. Yes, you can share it but you can also keep it for yourself and avoid having to order a second one after. The desserts looked really good and large but instead we all order the cafe gourmand (my personal go to dessert). It always you to have coffee and sample 3 dessert, the chocolate mousse (pretty delish for a restaurant), a creme brûlée, and a large cannelé. The prive and service are good. Nice place and great when the sun is out on the terrace enjoy the good food and atmosphere.

We dined here twice while staying at a nearby hotel. The first time was for lunch and we chose the…read morethree course option. Simple choices, but everything was well executed. (pickled herring, pork fillet, tart of the day and warm goat cheese, tuna steak, and cream de caramel). The mashed potatoes were actually "aligot", prepared with fresh Tomme cheese and garlic. So good. Seeing some things in the menu we knew we would enjoy, we returned for dinner the following night and had rillon de cunard, and wine to start which was more like what I would call a terrine versus a pate, but very enjoyable. We also had the duck trio, which consisted of a confit leg, cured breast, and foie gras on gingerbread. I find the gingerbread kind of an odd way to serve the liver, but I saw it at several restaurants in Paris. We also had a beef carpaccio which was served with salad and warm goat cheese. Everything was great. This being my first trip to Paris, I was prepared for the stereotypical snooty Paris waiter, and that was just not the case here. The first day it was likely the owner who waited on us and took good care of us. The dinner meal was served by a very efficient young man who was extremely good-natured, patient, and welcoming. He even complimented my horrible two phrases in French!

We started with Oeufs mayonnaise, which is a hard boiled egg topped with mayo. This was quite a simple dish, but definitely got us prepped for the meal. They initially made a mistake on our order and sent us the veal fingers. After rectifying the mistake, they ended up comping it, so we got an additional appetizer to try. The fried fish went well with the tartar sauce. For the mains, we got the bavette frites with bearnaise sauce and steak tartare with frites. Both dishes were delicious and satisfying, the flavors were excellent and each bite had me wanting more. If you haven't tried tartare before, give it a try here because it was delish! For dessert, we shared the Paris-Brest, a choux pastry topped with mousseline, pralines and roasted hazelnuts. We enjoyed sharing it and it made for a sweet end to our dinner. Overall, this was a great meal to start our trip, everything we had was delicious and my expectations were met!

He even joked that we were definitely not French because we assisted by stacking the dishes. He said Europeans would not do that. It was a good laugh for all of us!
