The sign on the café reads Belleville/mer but the address is the same as the one listed on Yelp for Le Montricher. A typical French bar/bistro/café with a lovely sheltered patio for outside dining as well as two rooms inside. During our current trip to Marseille we have now had all three meals of the day there and enjoyed every one. The menu changes every day, so the descriptions of dishes that follow are not necessarily what you'll find when you go.
Our first was lunch, where I had the veal and my wife had salmon, both delicious. Our next time was a dinner where we had tapas sized portions of an incredible pumpkin soup and an Irish stew - or at least a French take on it - that had more barley more flavours than the usual fare. Our third time was breakfast consisting of coffee, croissants and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Prices are reasonable and indeed cheaper than other similar places in the Longchamp neighbourhood. The service is excellent and very friendly. The wine list offers a few options for red, rosé and white. And there is a well stocked bar. The clientele is mainly 20/30 somethings, giving the place a certain level of energy, but it's at the same time quiet and intimate.
A great place when you just want some simple but delicious French food. read more
