My first experience with Le Monde was ok because I bought a wool patch-work hat made in Ireland. The hat sold itself because of its look - although it smelled old and moldy - much like the appearance of Morris, the owner, a rude, shriveled, and miserable, Scrooge who in the last stages of his life, has forgotten that customers keep his business alive.
I fell in love with a second hat while I was there, so a few days later I returned to purchase it. After returning home I noticed an obvious chunk of fur missing from the hat. Within a few hours of the purchase I notified him and described the blemished ermine-fur hat.
The next day when I went to return it, he refused to refund my money while he accused me of pulling the fur off and ruining the hat. I told him how much I loved the hat and wanted another just like it, but he didn't have any others. Apparently the hat was quite vintage and he claimed he bought it from another place that went out of business. It was an unique lovely hat and I felt fabulous wearing it for a total of one hour. But the age of it made the ermine skin very dry and brittle and small chunks were breaking off. Le Monde should store their fur hats properly to avoid dampness and mold, it might lengthen the life of the hat. As for Morris, he's hopeless.
He was angry, red faced, and nasty, telling me i damaged the hat. He told me i should fix it with glue. I refused and told him to glue it and keep it. In the end I left with money in my hand and a pounding headache, and Morris was completely oblivious to both.
The cluttered shop is unique, interesting, and worth a browse. But beware of the fur and the wretch pushing his faulty goods. read more
