A lovely restaurant in a beautiful old building with a delightful interior design. We had the lunch plates (pay by the size of the plate, and they fill it out generously). The price was comparable to many pay-by-weight veggie buffets in European cities, and probably a bit cheaper than them. Every single thing we had was delicious, and a lot of the options were very healthy too. The staff were acutely conscious of vegan/vegetarian differences, and I believe several items were vegan. This is virtually impossible to find in most restaurants in this region. They serve non-veg food (which slightly reduces options for us veg types), but they say it's due to lack of choice: it's hard to survive as a pure veg place in Carcassonne. So, if you're veg, cut them some slack, and give them your business. Most food options in Carcassonne are so unappealing and generic that, vegetarianism aside, this may well be one of the very best restaurants in town. The staff are supremely friendly, and one of them speaks excellent English, for those for whom that sort of thing is an issue. As of this writing (July 2013), they did lunch and dinner every day (including Sunday? not sure) with the sole exception of dinner on Monday.

This was one of our best restaurant experiences in our two weeks traveling throughout France. We also had a wonderful red wine from a local organic vineyard - I don't remember the name but the owner mentioned that it's from his brother's vineyard farm. The owners are a husband and wife team and they both spoke great English. They are super friendly and were very nice to have a small chit-chat with. This is truly a gem in Carcassonne and well worth the visit - a must for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

Open every night of the week. Didn't care that one of us didn't order due to a special medical diet we brought along. Pleasant host/waitress/cook's wife (?). Even though we were the only ones in the place, all the dishes were fresh and hot, perfectly prepared. All dishes we ordered were winners, and none of my family had ever eaten Pakistani food, nor was this type of food on their menu. But it was Father's Day, my choice. Oh, the price. $$? Really? Although accurate, the meal was something I would have expected to pay much more for. Then you leave and step outside. That's when you realize that their overhead has got to be very low. But walk like you "own the place" and all is good, and you're full. Don't hesitate to order a couple extra naan breads. Don't ask me why. You'll know after the first bite. Clean, quiet, kid friendly, not pushy, relaxing, easy walk from the canal by the train station, English speaking-no problem. Debating on hitting Taj Mahal for an early lunch before we leave tomorrow!
