Not quite the famously amazing green sauce from Le Relaise de Venice, but different from the typical black pepper variety you usually get. This was clearly a mix of black and green pepper corns. First taste had a hint of juniper and was almost off putting as i tasted a bit soapy. But it tasted great on the steak. By the end of the meal, I was pouring the sauce over bread to eat more of it!!! The only downside was that the fries are not the thin french fries one expect with steak frites. My wife had the mushroom farfalle. Some restaurants will through in a lot of fresh mushrooms, but no mushroom water as it makes it very brown and very dirty looking. But, then it lacks flavor. L'Egoiste clearly used plenty of water from re-hydrating dried mushrooms, and the hearty mushroom flavour had soaked deep into the noodles. It was a very low key, very in expensive, and very delicious. Great for backpackers all the way to couples on a fine dining vacation who just need a break from the fancy food and want something simply tasty.

The smell alone sold us fresh dough, bubbling cheese, and real ingredients; we were instantly excited to get it back to our rental. There is something about that crust... thin, light, crispy edges with just the right chew... absolutely delicious! The ingredients tasted fresh and balanced, olive oil was present, no heaviness, just a quality pizza that didn't miss. Sometimes, simple is the flex... and Bobolivo proves that. Just a heads up, the menu is entirely in French but if, like me, you have at least some grasp on the language and know basic food terms, you can probably figure out at least the main ingredients in each dish. If not, there's always Google translate. We enjoyed a bottle of wine with our meal, and received complimentary olives as a snack before our meal. As for the menu (which I posted a picture of) it's a lot of salads and grilled meats. My husband ordered the duck breast which was served with frites and a salad. The duck was nicely prepared to medium and had a tasty seasoning on it too.The meat was very tender, and the portion was also generous. I ordered the goat cheese salad (salade chevre) which had tomatoes, grilled onions, goat cheese atop small baguettes, fries, and cucumbers. The dressing was a sweet balsamic and was delicious. The salad portion was generous and ingredients were fresh. The location is several blocks back from the Old Port so it's mostly locals I believe that visit here given that we were the only ones speaking English at any of the tables near us. We sat outside since the day was nice. The language barrier was evident here and since the menu is in a chalkboard and all in French, this presented some difficulty in ordering. I could pick out most of the main ingredients in dishes but my husband had no idea what anything was on the menu. Since this was a late lunch-3pm-I wanted to stick to something light so I ordered a caprese salad. It ended up being huge! I enjoyed the addition of prosciutto and pesto. The mozzarella was very fresh as were the tomatoes. My husband ordered the bucatini with ham and mushrooms. The cream sauce was delicious and both the ham and mushrooms were plentiful in the dish. He gave me all of his mushrooms so I added them to my salad for added flavor. The pasta was a perfect lunch portion, and the pasta was cooked al dente. Instead of table bread, we were brought these little puffs that had sardines in them (or least that's what they tasted like). I'd recommend visiting here for an authentic meal, just know the service is very stereotypical French and it may hinder communication if you do not speak French.
