First great thing about it is the environment. The restaurant sits on the main square of Banne and has many servings outside which was very nice (until the wind becomes too cold!). We took Planche Ardechoise to share between the 4 of us as apetizer and it was very nice (though we did not like everything on it) and in very good quantity. Then we went for the dorade, the lamb and the ribs and a child menu. Everything was perfect but I have to give a special thumbs up for the ribs, fries and morilles risotto. Though we were fealing a bit full already we tried the dessert. We had the All Chocolate one and the suggestion from the chef and waitress Iced Nougat. Both were good but you definitely need to have aome space and undefinate love for chocolate to take the All Chocolate. Tasting good. Service was good, meal were served right on time. The little down is the access of the restaurant, Banne is a small village so you need to go through really narrow road to get to the top, not reassuring if you're not used to it. However everything has a cost!

The place itself is very beautiful, with a unique decor of French memorabilia of all ages. While you'll be eating, you'll notice some old lemonade bottles on a shelf, next to an authentic poster from the 1920's. The owners were there when I went, and it was a delight to meet them and to see how dedicated they were to please us. We were a party of seven and we all were super happy about the food. I had the "Ardeche RIBS" and though it's a smaller portion compared to American Ribs, I thought it was just enough. The potiron soup was light and creamy at the same time, and was perfect for a cold evening of November. For dessert, I had apple tart tatin, or a deconstructed apple tart. I loved it, it was simple and humble. It tasted like my childhood. The Auberge has a hotel section and my goal is to return and take a room for a few days. The surrounding and the city of Banne is such a unique location in this region, it deserves to be visited again.
