    Lyonnaise salad

I didn't know which restaurant to go for dinner and saw this place that had almost no empty table. Luckily we saw one party was leaving and grabbed the table. Servers don't speak English well but you will get by with a bartender who could help you with menu and simple conversation in English. Like most French restaurant, you get tap water/basket of good bread for free. This restaurant offers three kinds of 3-course menu (set price for 19 euro, 29 euro or 39 euro). Great deal and the food was divine! my friends and I picked all different dishes and everything was very tasty and coming in good portion size. Bartender also suggested one of three kinds house wine (very cheap!! 50 ml is around 5 euro) and it matched very well with both pork dish and seafood dish. Dessert was home-made including tiramisu. I would return if I were in Lyon anytime.

Crispy pork with sweet sesame sauce and small potatoes. One of the best things I've ever tasted. Perfectly prepared.

I'm not sure how this place does not have 5 stars, but I went there in a party of 10 work colleagues. Almost all of us ordered different items, and every one of us, EVERY ONE, found the food to be extraordinarily, speechlessly, face-meltingly good. Maybe I'm just a silly American ignorant of what insanely good French food is supposed to taste like, but it's some of the best food and best service I've ever had a restaurant...anytime, anywhere. To specifics, I can't speak for others and their individual experiences with their dishes, but I can certainly speak to mine. First course - greens salad with a cheese pastry. Wonderful. Light, but well-balanced dressing, fresh veggies, and I loved the warm cheese in the pastry (the menu slightly mistranslates it to "roasted"). It's just a nice, mild, soft cheese inside a buttery, light pastry that makes for an excellent starter. Main course - Pork with sweet sesame sauce, and small potatoes in a garlic, herb, and sour cream sauce. The pork is one of the top 5 things I've ever tasted in my life. Perfectly and wonderfully crispy on the outside, the marbling was perfectly carmelized, and the meat was euphorically tender and flavorful. I could be convinced to travel back to France just to have this dish again. It's worth the trip. Dessert Course - Caramel Profiterole. So, you Google a profiterole and you get these biscuit looking things that look a bit like Danish Ebleskivers. This is NOT what you get served. It's true, you get a biscuit, but it's cut in half, two scoops of awesome caramel ice cream are put in between, drizzled with caramel, and then liberally dressed with whipped cream. After stuffing my face with the pork, I'm not sure I could eat any more, but I finished every last drop of this course. The service was top notch, and they were wonderfully accommodating to a bunch of non-French speakers. They even had some fun with it and taught us how to say the names of the dishes in French. They made wonderful wine recommendations (even when we asked about a more expensive bottle), and we felt very welcome and well-treated. I can't say enough about how great, charming, and very revisitable this restaurant is. Bravo does not begin to cover it.

Tasty Lyonnais food! Great service with cosy interior! Beautiful Christmas deco!! Went for lunch and it was busy but was able to have a table right away. Plus, food was served fast! Would recommend!

However I knew it would not be my only bouchon dinner after trying the typical dishes of eggs in red wine sauce and fish dumplings. I had never had these food before but I know how to cook so I knew something was off. The red wine sauce was thin and watery and the fish dumplings dense and pale. It was a Monday evening so perhaps the best chef had the night off. The wine was very good and the atmosphere was perfectly lyonnaise.

The execution was on point. The dumplings totally had pike/fish flavor but so light and delicate. However the star is what lies beneath it. The lobster bisque was insanely good and brought added dimension to the dumpling. It was served with scalloped potatoes. I started with the cheese and salad. I never had cottage cheese so fresh and light. No comparison to the one you get in the market. It was whipped with herbs and olive oil with a wonderful mouth feel. The dessert was a let down. A praline tart. I should have gone with the cheese plate, but I wanted to end with something different.

This one stands out for its commitment to great service and outstanding sandwiches (tartines/toast) hot and cold. The decor here is beautiful with the stonework inside with quite a few tables as well as tables outside. Our server was outstanding, we ordered wine, cider, foie gras and egg salad tartines, and a couple of desserts. The toasts were excellent. The raspberry dessert was too mushy and the coconut dessert too dry. But we will be back for more tartines and to try their burgers.

Only one waitress spoke English, and she wasn't serving us - however she did explain about the different specials of the day. Our actual waiter was super nice and patient as we ordered and the food was amazing. We chose one tartine each (party of 3) and cut them into thirds so we could each sample everything. - Tomato burrata tartine with balsamic: very fresh, pretty much what you would expect from a tomato/mozz sandwich - The special that I ordered was pork with polenta and olives. It was amazing!!!!! - Croque Monsieur was also tasty - ham with tomato and cheese. We shared potatoes gratin and a bottle of wine. Really nice meal in a traditional Lyonnaise cafe. Cobblestone streets and adorable awnings - so picturesque!

I'm always reluctant to go to typical french restaurants as I feel I'm being taken for an idiot (i-e pay a lot of money for really bad food). This place is the exact OPPOSITE: it's a really great bouchon and the people owning the place are so nice and friendly; they explained the whole menu, making recommendations on our taste. The place only has big communal tables with red and white tableclothes, and old posters on the wall. It feels like I'm at Grandma's. The food is amazing: I had the St Marcellin brick to start, then the quenelle with homardine sauce and to finish chocolate mousse. Portions are huge and it only costs 29euros for a 3 course meal (again really good food and really big portions) It really deserves its 5 stars.
