Our cruise ship docked at Marseille and we wanted to try the famed bouillabaisse to get an idea of…read moreauthentic French food. The bouillabaisse here is pricy: 110 euros for two people. The price quotes is 55 euros per person, with a two person minimum. To be honest, it was incredibly disappointing and not at all delicious. I would not order it again by any means, but I'm glad I can say that I tried it. It tastes like a fish stew with hints of curry. We also ordered the seafood spaghetti where the noodles were cut into short strands. I'm not sure if this is a common occurrence here but I prefer my spaghetti to be longer. The taste was great, it was a tomato based pasta topped with two delicious prawns. We also ordered the grilled octopus salad with garlic olive oil which was tasty. Overall, this meal was too pricey for what we received in return, although the markup comes from its location on the port.

I saw La Nautique and hoped that they would have an opening for a wandering traveler. I ordered whatever was fresh, caught here in the waters of Marseille - I have never tasted a better whole fish than here. Grilled whole with zucchini and peppers making a delicious ratatouille. Two glasses of rosé, and a beautiful view as the sun set over the port. I never caught the waitresses name, but she was so accommodating and friendly, and made me feel at home while I was alone.

The location is…read morebeautiful but otherwise it does not live up to the suggestion that it is different from the touristy harbor fish places. I was disappointed in the food and disappointed in the bill. The "famous" bouillabaisse was somewhat below average - slightly heavy and with almost a cinnamon flavor - but lacking salt, fennel, or saffron that often give more complexity. There was nothing exciting about the soup base or the chunks of fish and potato. Portion size was medium - not large. And yet we did not finish our bowls. Fish soup everywhere else in France is 15-25eu, and usually better tasting, albeit without the potato and fish chunks. This is 55 Eu per person. Which is astronomical - especially for this quality of taste. Ordered San Pelligrino sparkling water. They delivered an unsealed bottle with their restaurant name. No idea of actual contents. Arrived 7:58 for 8 pm reservation and place was 20% occupied. We got served about 8:50 pm

They specialize in bouillabaisse; a mussel and fish soup that I knew in my heart our trip won't be complete without trying. We came here at lunchtime and decided to eat Al fresco. my partner had grilled octopus salad that was prepared to perfection, while I chose the famous bouillabaisse soup. I was instructed to soak the sliced baguette into the soup and sprinkle some cheese on top and wait till the bread absorbed the soup and voilà! A perfect Provençal dish experience, and of course it went perfectly well with a choice of a bottle of French Rosé. We had a lovely dining experience here, I was impressed with the customer service and dish presentation. It's worth visiting this place if you happen to be in the area!

An owner (or manager?) came out and was very friendly, talked with us about where we are from and our trip. We ordered burgers which were very good and served with a little cole slaw and steak fries. A group of locals came in and started talking to us about our travels and ended up, very nicely, buying us a cheese and cured meats platter! Delicious and amazingly kind. On our way out the same owner or manager called after us saying goodbye. I would highly recommend this place just for the people alone but the food is also very good and a fantastic deal.
