Incredible food, well made with care at reasonable prices. Don't let the location in an lonely industrial park or that it's in a budget businessman's hotel fool you as it almost did me. This is first class food and service with genuine and engaging staff. You could easily pay double in town for a lesser meal.
After a short chat with the maitre'd, I settled on one of 3 showcased entrees that featured local specialties. It was a roll of pike (fish) smothered in a creamy crawfish bisque, complete with tail meat and ornamental crawfish on top. It's shown in the photos section. This is served with a side dish of long-grained basmati rice and dine so for a reason. It was for soaking up all that bisque goodness after eating the fish. Speaking of the pike, I was thinking that it'd be some chunk of fish fleisch, but to my very pleasant surprise, it was a delicate soufflé that was light and airy, a perfect complement to the rich, dense bisque.
For a starter, I tried the grilled octopus - wow what a treat. It was fresh, perfectly cooked (a rare feat) such that it was thoroughly cooked, yet I could cut it with my fork. So often it's over cooked and uncuttable, chewing like a piece of automobile tire. Not here! It was delicious, served with a compote of diced root vegetables.
Dessert was also a dream, a Carmel cream filled ultra thin choco cookie tube with a side dollop of freshly made ice cream.
What a meal, so good that I made a point of going again the next night! read more
